<p>An opportunity to Inspire, Challenge, and Empower!</p> <p>Posting Information: We are currently hiring for a Freshman Seminar (CTE) Teacher for Shelton High School beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. Open until filled.</p> <p>Interview Process: Applicants are encouraged to apply by June 24, 2025. If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person interviews at a date to be determined.</p> <p>Schedule: 1.0 FTE</p> <p>Location: Shelton High School</p> <p>Salary: $64,664 - $119,032 annually, depending on experience.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>Benefits: 12 sick leave days of which 6 can be used for personal leave each school year; 5 days bereavement leave per school year; health insurance benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance for employee and eligible dependents. Retirement through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS); other fringe benefits as allowed under the Shelton Education Association (SEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Freshman Seminar (CTE) teacher supports Shelton School District's Strategic Plan and Shelton High School's School Improvement Plan by delivering high-quality instruction in preparing students to select academy pathways for their time in high school and teaching students the skills they need to be successful. Key responsibilities include implementing district-approved curriculum, monitoring and documenting student progress, addressing diverse learning needs, and fostering a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment. The teacher will also maintain open communication with students, families, and administrators to support student achievement and growth.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Washington State CTE Certification or ability to obtain certification, including participation in an approved Washington State Plan 2 CTE teacher training program. </li><li>Ability to work in digitized classroom and are technically savvy. </li><li>Experience and/or passion for teaching in high school settings. </li><li>Willingness to actively support Shelton School District's Strategic Plan and initiatives. </li><li>Willingness to use District issued unit plans, lesson plans, and approved curriculum. </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain structures and routines that are conducive to an effective, safe, and welcoming environment. </li><li>Ability to assess students progress and modify instruction as needed. </li><li>Ability to scaffold instruction for a diverse student population. </li><li>Ability to maintain an upbeat, positive, and collaborative demeanor. </li><li>Ability to develop and maintain professional, positive relationships with students, staff, administrators, families, and the community. </li><li>Willingness to participate in school and building events and activities. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment. </li><li>Ability to incorporate lightheartedness and humor into the workplace. </li><li>Ability to grow in interpersonal and technical skills with the held belief of being a lifelong learner. </li><li>Ability to make independent decisions as well as work collaboratively with other staff, administrators, families, and community members. </li><li>Ability to serve as a think-partner and use critical thinking skills to perform tasks and make decisions. </li><li>Ability to apply policies, procedures, statutes, and regulations accurately. </li><li>Ability to effectively and efficiently calculated risks. </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours and remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations. </li><li>Necessary skills (both technical and interpersonal) to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Delivers lessons that build students self-awareness resilience, responsible decision-making, and interpersonal, transferable skills. </li><li>Assists in the transition of 9th grade students including but not limited to orientation and information nights. </li><li>Meets with academic teachers to plan academy experiences and collaborates with other seminar teachers in preparation for student experiences. </li><li>Introduces students to goal-setting, career exploration and post-secondary planning in alignment with their High School and Beyond Plan. </li><li>Monitors academic progress and collaborations with stakeholders to support 9th grade students. </li><li>Serves as a supportive adult and advocate for 9th grade students, building strong connections and maintaining communication with families. </li><li>Actively participates in Highclimber Academy team meetings. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, families, and industry partners to ensure career-connected learning. </li><li>Develops and maintains positive, professional relationships with students, other staff, families, and administrators. </li><li>Advises families of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher's expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment. </li><li>Assesses students for the purpose of providing feedback to students, families, and administration regarding students' progress, expectations, goals, etc. </li><li>Collaborates with other teachers to review data, implement interventions, align their scope and sequence, and improve their instructional practices with a focus on student growth. </li><li>Collaborates with school personnel, families, and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, and delivering District approved curriculum. </li><li>Directs para educators, volunteers, and/or student aides for the purpose of providing an effective school program and addressing the needs of individual students. </li><li>Monitors student activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment. </li><li>Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress. </li><li>Reports incidents as appropriate for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to education code, district, and/or school policies. </li><li>Participates in various meetings (e.g., family conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements. </li><li>Attends professional development trainings as appropriate or directed. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality and tact in all aspects of employment. </li><li>Maintains a positive attitude and views students with an asset-based approach. </li><li>Supports the District's Strategic Plan and Shelton High School's School Improvement Plan. </li><li>Abides by all District Policies and Procedures as well as all applicable statutes and guidelines. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul>
