<p>POSITION TITLE: Senior Compensation Analyst</p> <p>COMPENSATION RANGE: 69,581.00 - 77,250.00 USD per year</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Professional Administrative</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Human Resources Office</p> <p>TARGET HIRE DATE: 6/15/2026</p> <p>BENEFITS: UNC's Career Hub</p> <p>Candidates must have valid U.S. work authorization at the time of application; UNC cannot provide H-1B sponsorship at this time.</p> <p>To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on 05/18/2026.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>This position exists to assist the campus and AVP of HR in managing the daily operations of the Human Resources Office with an emphasis on compensation, organizational design, HR analytics, projects and process improvement. This position is responsible for the analysis, administration, and support of the design and maintenance of compensation programs that ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and compliance with applicable laws and organizational policies. This role conducts market pricing, job evaluations, salary structure analysis, compensation audits, and supports annual compensation planning processes. This position reviews, analyzes and evaluates compensation processes, identifies needs, and develops strategies to maximize opportunities. Documents requirements, defines scope and objectives and develops and refines processes and tools that support alignment with university strategies and operational needs. Supports compensation policy development and revision by providing analysis and recommendations. Manages and disseminates HR policy and process information in electronic, published, and verbal forms. Required to interact with stakeholders, system architects and various subject experts. Works well with limited supervision, considerable latitude and regularly uses independent judgement. Relies on experience and self-judgment to plan and accomplish goals.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <p>(50%) Compensation Plan Administration</p> <ul> <li>Execute job evaluation process by reviewing job descriptions, analyzing job content, and market pricing analysis. </li><li>Participate in compensation benchmarking and survey submissions; review results to identify market trends and support pay positioning recommendations. </li><li>Contribute to annual compensation processes, including distribution modeling, salary structure updates, and parity analysis. </li><li>Support internal equity and external competitiveness analysis by compiling and analyzing compensation data across departments, functions, and job levels. </li><li>Analyze and make recommendations on compensation guidance for new hire offers, promotions, and internal transfers. </li><li>Prepare compensation-related reports and presentations as needed. </li><li>Ensure compensation practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including FLSA, Equal Pay for Equal Work and pay transparency laws. </li></ul> <p>(20%) HR Metrics and Data Analysis</p> <ul> <li>Collect and analyze workforce data in response to internal and external stakeholders </li><li>Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues </li><li>Perform daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports </li><li>Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant operational trends and assists in the identification of opportunities for improvement </li></ul> <p>(10%) Organizational Design</p> <ul> <li>Support the development and maintenance of systems and processes for position management and organizational structure, consistent with institutional guidelines. </li></ul> <p>(10%) Support daily human resources functions related to compensation, metrics & analytics</p> <ul> <li>Supports department objectives through analysis, coordination, and execution of assigned initiatives. </li><li>Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees </li><li>Maintains federal and state compliance and ensures a safe, secure, and legal work environment </li><li>Develops personal growth opportunities for self and staff </li><li>Partner with Payroll to ensure compensation related issues are processed timely and accurately. </li></ul> <p>(5%) Process/Procedure Review and Development</p> <ul> <li>Provide guidance for process improvement initiatives. </li><li>Develop recordkeeping procedures and manage appropriate records and policy documentation in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards. </li><li>Test business processes and recommend improvements </li><li>Plan, design, and conduct policy and procedure research, using multiple research formats; compile, organize, and evaluate information necessary to develop and prepare HR policy recommendations. </li><li>Use data and processes to identify specific enhancements to university procedures </li><li>Coordinate and support projects, may serve as project lead for defined initiatives under direction of leadership. </li><li>Recommend controls by identifying problems and write improved procedures </li><li>Facilitate the design and implementation of new/improved HR procedures to positively impact campus, including the formulation, development, implementation, and revision of core HR policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>(5%) Project Management</p> <ul> <li>Monitor project progress by tracking activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions </li><li>Provides coordination in the planning, development, and implementation of critical special projects associated with the maintenance and enhancement of the University's policies, procedures, and documentation. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in the field of HR, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics or related field. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible related experience. </li></ul> <p>Ability:</p> <p>This position must have the ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Analyze situations accurately and take appropriate action </li><li>Identify problems and recommend sound solutions </li><li>Communicate effectively in English both written and verbal with a wide range of constituents </li><li>Follow and give oral and written directions </li><li>Perform mathematical calculations with accuracy </li><li>Interpret, apply and initiate University and HR policies and procedures </li><li>Maintain a cooperative working relationship with others </li><li>Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for a diverse population </li><li>Organize information accurately & quickly </li><li>Able to work with multiple interruptions </li><li>Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities </li><li>Proven management and organizational skills </li><li>Ability to impact operations and effect change without being confrontational </li><li>Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive </li><li>Extremely organized with strong time-management skills </li><li>Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. </li><li>Proven ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing demands. </li><li>Ability to evaluate and edit the content, structure, and format of a range of written material. </li><li>Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans for all full-time positions.
