Please view our benefits guide here.</p> <ul> <li>Best consideration date, apply by: December 19, 2025. </li></ul> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The City of Greeley is seeking an Accountant II to join the Accounting Team as part of the Finance Department. This position will report directly to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for completing journal entries and analysis of assigned funds, assisting with the completion of the City's annual external audit, supporting the creation of the annual comprehensive financial report, providing other financial reporting, and completing regular accounting functions.</p> <p>Experience, Knowledge, Skills:</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Three (3) years of experience with complicated practices and precedents and an in-depth knowledge of governmental accounting practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have in-depth knowledge of governmental accounting practices to create detailed records and to complete the annual audit and monthly reconciliations of assigned funds.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of grants, federal regulations, reporting, and compliance.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).</p> </li></ul> <p>OR</p> <ul> <li>Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job, </li></ul> <p>AND</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a valid driver's license. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Five (5) years of governmental accounting experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience working with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Report building experience with Power BI, Oracle BI, or another business intelligence program.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards, including Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines, Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, and the organizational and financial structure of Colorado municipalities.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Oracle, and able to learn and adapt to new software and systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in preparing, analyzing, and presenting financial data, schedules, and reports, and developing recommendations for policy or procedural improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work independently with sound professional judgment and as part of a collaborative team.</p> </li><li> <p>Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written, and listening) with the ability to engage diverse audiences and foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates initiative, strong work ethic, problem-solving abilities, and a focus on achieving organizational goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to navigate complex political environments and identify solutions to emerging issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting and financial standards.</p> </li></ul> <p>Travel: Category A-Standard Local Travel: This position requires occasional local travel within the County.
