<p>Description</p> <p>Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Mon - Fri.</p> <p>Pay: $23/hr. or possibly higher depending on experience.</p> <p>Your Purpose will be:</p> <p>The person in this position will be responsible for the integrity of the Knowledge Base manual. The Technical Writer creates and updates the Knowledge Base Manual on internal systems and standard operation procedures at the Credit Union. They will work with Subject Matter Experts in all departments to ensure procedures and other internal documentation are accurate, comprehensible, and accessible. Using HTML/CSS coding skills, and technical document writing skills, this person will manage and review content to ensure it is up to date; communicate changes to existing content; and work to engage employees with procedures by creating enrichment content such as videos and quick reference guides. Also, every employee is responsible for fulfilling our Mission Statement: To improve the financial well-being of our members, while providing world class service.</p> <p>What you'll do:</p> <ul> <li>Interview internal SMEs to understand work functions and processes. </li><li>Develop and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with departments at all levels across the Credit Union. </li><li>Collaborate with Operational Managers to identify processes of concern and diagnose issues. </li><li>Write detailed procedure documents based upon discussions with process owners and in compliance with Standard Operation Procedures. </li><li>Develop, review, revise and publish procedures based upon business process changes. </li><li>Maintain and track documentation, reorganization, and system enhancement changes as they occur. </li><li>Keep internal departmental procedures updated on how job duties are best performed. </li><li>Communicate updates or changes with training department, CU employees, and key stakeholders. </li><li>Proofread procedures to ensure correct grammar, completeness, consistency, formatting, and adherence to policies and meets both writer's guide standards and content meets company standards. </li><li>Proactively solicit input from others to enhance the content so materials are easy to find and understand. </li><li>Ensure effective content management and schedule reviews of procedure documents on a regular basis. </li><li>Use HTML and CSS coding to publish and update procedures & templates within the documentation system. </li><li>Fix coding bugs and improve systems to prevent bugs from happening. </li><li>Escalate technical issues to the proper resources when necessary. </li><li>Use MS Excel to report data on procedure usage, feedback, and updates. </li><li>Create and develop video procedures using Canva Pro and Camtasia. </li><li>Respond promptly to K4U Article Feedback, and occasionally, justify why changes were/were not made. </li><li>Provide support to CU employees on a wide variety of information, from CU procedures, products and technical applications via phone call, email, and other mediums. </li><li>Analyze recurring errors and create and update quick reference guides, common error guides, and branch posters to address them. </li><li>Work independently, with little supervision, and prioritize tasks when needed. </li><li>Establish, monitor & achieve goals and submit monthly reports in a timely manner. </li><li>Manage competing priorities and tasks to maximize desired results. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Understands the Bank Secrecy Act and how it is applied. </li></ul> <p>Perks for you:</p> <ul> <li>Opportunity for advancement and career growth. </li><li>Ongoing paid training opportunities. </li><li>12 paid holidays. </li><li>Paid vacation, personal, and sick time off. </li><li>Affordable health insurance options for all employees. </li><li>14.47% 401(k) contribution (no matching necessary). </li><li>Discounts on Credit Card interest rates. </li><li>Discounts on Mortgage Loan fees. </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>The experience you need to succeed:</p> <ul> <li>Must have High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D. A college degree in English, communications, or related field preferred. </li><li>Must have working knowledge of HTML/CSS coding. </li><li>Knowledge of basic web/document design principles. </li><li>Exceptional organization skills to effectively manage the Credit Unions content management system. </li><li>Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. </li><li>Experience in documentation and technical writing is strongly preferred. </li><li>Experience with video and content creation preferred. </li><li>Proficient with standard office business machinery and software including Word, Excel, and Outlook. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment & Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Works primarily in a hybrid office environment, with occasional In-office days required. This includes but is not limited to various outdoor and indoor climates and driving conditions. (Hybrid or work from home employees must be able to report in office if required.) </li><li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly need to: see, talk, hear, and perform repetitive movements with arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and reach. A computer, phone, and standard office equipment are normal tools for this position. Specific vision abilities that may be required by this job include close vision and distance vision. The employee may at times also need to: climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
