<p>Scheduled Hours</p> <p>40</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Lead Navigator will support the implementation of Project ARK's HIV/STI testing and biomedical/behavioral health HIV prevention services. This position will be a focused effort on the coordination and delivery of HIV/STI prevention services for racial-minority youth, specifically young men who have sex with men and transgender women. This position will assist persons with identified barriers to HIV prevention by providing referrals and linkage to internal Project ARK/SPOT services and external community resources. This position will have a strong knowledge of evidence-based HIV/STI prevention, human sexuality, and positive youth development. This position will also discuss scientifically accurate safer sex and prevention strategies with diverse populations. The position will work closely with the Project ARK/SPOT prevention leadership staff to ensure HIV/STI prevention services are delivered in accordance with grant requirements and organizational goals and policies.</p> <p>This role will have experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds, along with a demonstrated commitment to cultural competence and the delivery of culturally responsive health care. This position is charged with advancing the Project ARK mission, vision, and core values.</p> <p>Working hours may include evenings and weekends, as necessary.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <p>HIV/STI Prevention Navigation Services</p> <ul> <li>Screen individuals seeking HIV/STI testing and/or prevention services for needs related to HIV prevention, mental health, substance use, and other sexual health goals. </li><li>Develop care plans with clients to identify goals and needed resources to meet stated goals related to HIV prevention, mental health, substance use and sexual health goals, utilizing Motivational Interviewing strategies. </li><li>Provide linkage and ongoing support for clients to meet goals in partnership with internal services (HIV/STI testing and treatment, PrEP, mental health/substance use counseling), and external community resources through in person, text and email communication. </li></ul> <p>HIV/STI Testing Services</p> <ul> <li>Conduct HIV/STI screening and sexual health counseling with diverse youth and adults, which includes administering rapid HIV tests, specimen collection (i.e., blood, urine, pharyngeal & rectal swabs) and/or blood testing, as well handling/transporting specimens in the office and in outreach (mobile) settings. </li><li>Coordinate outreach testing activities by identifying community partners and outreach sites to increase access to HIV/STI testing. </li><li>Complete all required training and documentation for all HIV/STI testing and client interventions. </li></ul> <p>Administrative</p> <ul> <li>Assist with quality control and quality assurance tasks for the Project ARK HIV testing program, which may include managing the testing supply and condom inventory and test kit controls. </li><li>Complete reporting requirements as assigned to demonstrate effective implementation of projects specifically for SAMSHA prevention grant. </li><li>Participate in Project ARK/The SPOT staff meetings including assist in identification of key agenda items to strengthen the prevention team and services provided. </li></ul> <p>Other Duties</p> <ul> <li>Foster a spirit of teamwork and collaboration and excellent customer service. </li><li>Maintain required HIPAA compliance, skills/competencies and participate in staff trainings and meetings, continuing education, and cross-training programs according to established standards and WashU policies. </li><li>Participate in quality improvement activities to ensure appropriate clinical outcomes. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Job Location/Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Normal office environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Patient care setting.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Effort</p> <ul> <li> <p>Typically sitting at desk or table.</p> </li><li> <p>Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasional lifting (25 lbs or less).</p> </li></ul> <p>Equipment</p> <ul> <li>Office equipment. </li></ul> <p>The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification. Applicants with bachelor's degrees in other fields may be considered with sufficient case management experience. </li><li>Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date </li><li>Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Background and expertise with providing sexual health services. </li><li>Phlebotomy certification or willingness to complete once hired. </li><li>Experience with successfully creating key partnerships and collaboration. </li><li>Knowledge and sensitivity about the needs and issues of various subpopulations such as youth, racial and ethnic minorities, sexual and gender minorities, and people living with HIV/AIDS. </li><li>Support of harm reduction philosophy and client-centered approach in prevention. </li><li>Strong verbal communication and written skills. </li><li>Reliable transportation. </li><li>Willingness to work non-traditional hours with notice (evenings and weekends). </li><li>Possess a Class E or CDL license, or be willing to obtain one for mobile unit operation. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>No additional education unless stated elsewhere in the job posting.</p> <p>Certifications/Professional Licenses:</p> <p>No additional certification/professional licenses unless stated elsewhere in the job posting.</p> <p>Work Experience:</p> <p>No additional work experience unless stated elsewhere in the job posting.</p> <p>Skills:</p> <p>Case Management, Community Resources, Computer Literacy</p> <p>Grade</p> <p>C08-H</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$20.57 - $30.84 / Hourly</p> <p>The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
