<p>Position Title Advisor, Student Support Services (SSS-TRIO) Posting Number AS1003P Subdivision Retention & Student Services Division Provost & Student Experience (AA) Department Student Success Center Location Erie, Pa Position Summary</p> <p>Gannon University, a vibrant Catholic institution committed to excellence through inclusiveness, invites applications for the Student Support Services Advisor position. This position is responsible for identifying and selecting eligible students for the Student Support Services program (SSS/TRIO).</p> <p>The Student Support Services Advisor is a 12-month, grant-funded position responsible for identifying and selecting eligible students for the Student Support Services (SSS) program. The Advisor conducts intake interviews, administers assessments to determine academic needs, and develops individualized support plans for incoming and returning SSS participants. The Advisor provides holistic advising support for program participants and tracks their progress through graduation, providing services and recommendations to support retention and graduation. This position is responsible for selecting, training, and supervising peer mentors and maintaining records and reports on the SSS peer mentor program. The Advisor works as a member of the SSS and Gannon team to serve students and meet the goals of the competitive grant, adhering to federal, state, and local laws and university policies.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborates effectively with the SSS team and university personnel to deliver program services in alignment with federal regulations, state and local laws, university policies, and grant requirements. </li><li>Process New Participant Applications to determine program eligibility. </li><li>Provides a holistic advising experience for students that entails academic, financial, career, and personal coaching and advocacy. </li><li>Offers individualized career and graduate school coaching to support students' post-graduation plans. </li><li>Monitors academic progress throughout students' enrollment, coordinating with faculty and staff as needed. </li><li>Maintains a designated caseload of SSS participants and conducts the required number and types of appointments to support their retention and graduation; assists with the broader student population as needed. </li><li>Organizes and facilitates workshops and development opportunities on topics such as: </li><li>Career exploration and job market trends </li><li>Graduate school admissions </li><li>Financial aid, economic, and financial literacy </li><li>Cultural and educational enrichment </li><li>Other relevant subjects based on student needs </li><li>Coordinates and participates in student travel, including overnight and weekend trips. </li><li>Assists with recruiting and enrolling eligible students during events such as Orientation, Admitted Student Days, and other campus functions, including some evenings and weekends. </li><li>Maintains accurate and timely documentation of student interactions and caseload updates in SSS databases. </li><li>Develops and implements academic and cultural enrichment activities tailored to student development. </li><li>Identifies and refers students to appropriate university services for additional support. </li><li>Attends professional development activities, including TRIO trainings, workshops, and conferences, which may require multi-day air travel. </li><li>Maintains professional and ethical standards, especially regarding student confidentiality and boundaries. </li><li>Coordinates all aspects of the Peer Mentoring Program for SSS students. </li><li>Manages a flexible work schedule to best accommodate student needs. </li><li>Maintains a clean, welcoming, and organized office space to foster a supportive environment. </li><li>Promotes and attends university events that encourage student engagement and belonging. </li><li>Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, effective communication, and openness to constructive feedback. </li><li>Performs additional duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>We offer flexible work hours for eligible positions and a generous benefits package for full-time employees.</p> <ul> <li>Retirement Plan (403b) with 7.5% company match after one year of service </li><li>Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage </li><li>Paid vacation time plus 18 paid holidays </li><li>Wellness programs </li><li>Tuition benefit for yourself and eligible dependents </li><li>Professional Development </li><li>Free gym Access </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure: Application Procedure: Review of applications will begin immediately, and this position will remain open until filled. For more information about Gannon University visit www.gannon.edu.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Education: Bachelor's degree required</p> <p>Experience: Preference will be given to those with experience working with TRIO programs (e.g., Upward Bound and/or Student Support Services and/or Talent Search, etc.).</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications: Current valid driver's license and good driving history are required.</p> <p>Skills: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including small group presentation skills; a working knowledge of current theories and practices in higher education student development, retention, academic and career advising, and student support services; a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint; use of Datatel student information system is preferred; and the ability to operate standard office equipment.</p> <p>University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the University Mission.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Higher Education, Education, Counseling or Student Personnel)</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy office and University environment.</p> <p>Exempt Status Exempt Position Classification Professional Position Type Staff Employment Status Full-Time Position Length 12M Hours per Week 37.5 Work Schedule Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm, possible weekend event Shift 1st</p>
