<p>Winchester Public Schools is seeking 2.5 FTE's Math Specialist (K-5)</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Massachusetts Elementary License, Grades 1-6 </li><li>Master's degree in education </li></ul> <p>Job Goals:</p> <p>The Math Specialist (K-5) provides targeted math instruction to small groups of students needing extra support with key concepts. This role collaborates with classroom teachers and the elementary math coordinator to identify needs, develop intervention plans, and monitor progress for academic growth.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with classroom instruction and curriculum. </li><li>Deliver tier 2 small group math instruction focused on specific skills and concepts. </li><li>Design inquiry-based lessons that foster exploration, questioning, and problem-solving in math. </li><li>Thoughtfully incorporate explicit instruction when necessary, ensuring a balanced and student-centered approach. </li><li>Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including manipulatives and hands-on activities, to address diverse learning styles. </li><li>Assist with Math Screener administration </li><li>Use assessment data and teacher recommendations to identify students' learning gaps and create individualized intervention plans. </li><li>Track and document student progress, regularly updating intervention plans based on ongoing data. </li><li>Participate in data team meetings to discuss student progress and intervention strategies. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in implementing inquiry-based math instruction, with the ability to effectively integrate high-quality explicit instruction when appropriate to support and enhance student learning </li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. </li><li>Flexibility in adapting instruction and schedules to meet student and school needs. </li><li>Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs. </li><li>Commitment to ongoing professional development. </li></ul> <p>Reports to: Building principals</p> <p>Terms of Employment: Unit A</p>
