<p>Extended School Year Teacher</p> <p>Everett Public Schools is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Special Education staff to teach our students</p> <p>an in-person Special Education Extended School Year Program. This program aims to provide academic</p> <p>support to address learning loss and promote skills maintenance according to the goals and benchmarks</p> <p>of each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).</p> <p>The special education teacher will plan lessons and implement daily routines and developmentally</p> <p>appropriate activities for students in small group educational classrooms based on their IEPs. Teachers</p> <p>will collect data on student's IEP objectives and report on progress at the end of the program. The</p> <p>special education teacher will advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within their classroom. They</p> <p>will collaborate with ancillary services staff in the implementation of IEP services.</p> <p>Additional Staff:</p> <p>? Wilson Instructor (Remote)</p> <p>? Specialist Teachers</p> <p>Program:</p> <p>Special Education Extended Year Program (Pre K-to students entering Grade 8)</p> <p>Working Times:</p> <p>? 23 Days of summer school (July 1-3, July 7 - August 1) 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. plus an additional</p> <p>plus 30 hours of prep time</p> <p>? Required training dates June 17 and June 18th, 8 AM-3:00 PM (Dates tentative based on last day</p> <p>of school)</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>? Plan and implement daily routines and developmentally appropriate activities for students in</p> <p>small group educational classrooms based on their IEPs.</p> <p>? Collect data on student's IEP objectives and report on progress at the end of the program.</p> <p>? Collaborate with ancillary services staff in the implementation of IEP services.</p> <p>? Advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within their classroom.</p> <p>? Use best practices in ELA and mathematics that encourage higher-order thinking, critical</p> <p>thinking, and collaboration for students with disabilities.</p> <p>? Implement specific literacy-based strategies identified for summer school and participate in</p> <p>coaching opportunities to strengthen the implementation of the strategies.</p> <p>? Use all available technology and curricula the district provides to create engaging lessons and</p> <p>supports linked with 21st-century skills.</p> <p>? Manage classroom behavior with strategies that motivate students, support an inclusive learning</p> <p>community, and empower students to participate actively and appropriately in all program</p> <p>activities.</p> <p>? Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards and curriculum that promote self-confidence,</p> <p>team-building, and informed decision-making.</p> <p>? Utilize inclusive practices that support students with disabilities and English language learners.</p> <p>? Communicate with student families regularly using culturally responsive strategies that promote</p> <p>two-way conversations.</p> <p>? Contribute to initiatives and events, which may be assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal,</p> <p>and/or ESY Coordinator.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>? Bachelor's Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts</p> <p>? Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Special</p> <p>Education, English as a Second Language, or related fields.</p> <p>? SEI Endorsement</p> <p>PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>? Master's Degree in Education</p> <p>? 3 or more years of experience working with special education students</p> <p>? Current EPS employee in good standing</p> <p>? Dual Licensure and/or relevant experience in Special Education and/or English as a Second</p> <p>Language</p> <p>? Previous experience working in Extended School Year</p> <p>?
