<p>OFFICIAL TITLE: Curriculum, Data, and Assessment Specialist - School Counseling WORKING TITLE:CDAM - School Counseling WORK YEAR: 12 months LOCATION- PRAB- Assigned to New Bedford High School</p> <p>SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION: The Curriculum, Data, and Assessment Specialist of School Counseling will support , in partnership with Building Administration, all aspects of the school counseling program. Provides leadership and direction to the school counseling staff to ensure that student needs are being met. Provides protocols and processes all students equitable access to quality, developmentally appropriate, and comprehensive school counseling program focused on academic success, personal, and social development and career and college guidance. Consults and collaborates with teachers, parents, and staff to increase student achievement, motivation, and academic learning. This position will build structures and supports to ensure that all students graduate New Bedford Public Schools with a post-secondary plan in place. Works with the district level staff around college, careers, out of school time, and pathways.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher required in staff development, educational curriculum, administration or related field. </li><li>School-based administrative experience preferred. </li><li>A minimum of five years' experience in school counseling. </li><li>Understanding of multiple pathways including Early College, International Baccalaureate, dual enrollment, Career Vocational Technical Education, etc. preferred. </li><li>DESE licensure to serve as an Administrator </li><li>Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge and application of School Counseling, pathways, scheduling, college and career information, Early College, CVTE, dual enrollment. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of curriculum and instructional programs, policies, procedures and practices and system wide goals. </li><li>Ability to analyze and build a master schedule. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a team member and collaborate with various offices in the district. </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication, human relations, and facilitation skills. Strong organization and leadership skills. </li><li>Proven ability to acquire knowledge related to current and evolving instructional, organizational leadership and confidentiality practices. </li></ul> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Leads and guides all aspects of school counseling. </li><li>Coordinates the continuous development of school counselors. </li><li>Analyzes, organizes, and assists in the build of the master student schedule. </li><li>Coordinates the implementation college and career readiness programs for students. </li><li>Prepares reports including tracking graduation data, drop out data, International Baccalaureate, Early college, dual enrollment, advanced level coursework, etc. </li><li>In collaboration with support staff personnel, leads the routine tracking and analyzing of data that monitors students' progress toward meeting academic and behavioral expectations. </li><li>Establishes with the team the strategic direction of the department in alignment to the strategic plan of the district and oversees creation and implementation of robust, grade-level guidance curriculum </li><li>Ensures that there is up-to-date school counseling information accessible to students and families and facilitates communication. </li><li>Participates as a member of the Teacher PGS Implementation Team and the Supporting Services PGS Implementation Team. </li><li>Collaborates with the Office of School Performance to ensure the fidelity of implementation of the PGS systems. </li><li>Presents on initiatives and opportunities for input and questions to School Committee, Cabinet, Principal PLCs, and other NBPS leaders and stakeholder groups. </li><li>Oversees pathways that include, but are not limited to: College Dual Enrollment; Grades 8 - 9 Dual Enrollment; Academy of Honors; Academy of Civic leadership and World Studies </li><li>Assists in organizing events such as: Middle School Open House; College Fair; Credit for Life </li><li>Attends conferences and training events to maintain currency on matters related to school counseling, including matters of college and career readiness. </li><li>Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position. </li></ul> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Non-Union, 12-month Year position </li><li>Salary: $100,000-$110, 000 (based on experience) </li><li>PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Special requirements such as lifting heavy objects and frequent climbing): Frequent fine motor use such as typing, filing. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, as needed. May lift, push, pull up to 20 lbs.
