<p>Overview</p> <p>The Mayor's Office Operations Team is seeking an intern to work up to 35 hours per week.</p> <p>The ideal candidate must be a strong multitasker who is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team. The individual will assist with administrative and customer service tasks. This position provides an opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience in municipal operations, public service, and office administration. This position reports to the Administrative Front Desk Manager.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Greet and assist constituents with a friendly and professional demeanor. </li><li>Answer, screen, and direct incoming phone calls promptly and courteously. </li><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable front desk area. </li><li>Handle constituent intake and enrollment during visits. </li><li>Confirm meetings and conference room bookings. </li><li>Assist in data entry, document filing, and organizing office supplies. </li><li>Prepare and distribute city correspondence, memos, and emails; manage package deliveries. </li><li>Operate office equipment such as printers, copiers, and phone systems. </li><li>Ensure office security by following safety procedures and access control. </li><li>Maintain confidentiality of all city and constituent information. </li><li>Perform related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Entrance Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, preferably in Public Administration, Political Science, Business, or a related field. </li><li>Strong telephone skills, verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well under pressure, and multitasking. </li><li>Ability to provide quality customer service in person and on the phone; to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to work effectively within a team and independently. </li><li>Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar) tools is a plus. </li><li>Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic workplace. </li><li>Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail required by the job. </li><li>Proficiency in video conferencing (Zoom, Google Meets). </li></ul> <p>BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED</p> <p>Terms:</p> <p>Union/Salary Plan/Grade: Non-Union/$20 per hour</p> <p>Hours per week: up to 35</p>
