Our mission is to foster a love of learning in all children and to support their academic, social, and emotional growth through engaging instruction, strong relationships, and culturally responsive teaching.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>Waverly School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and reflective Kindergarten Teacher for a leave replacement position lasting approximately 6 weeks in the fall from late September through early November 2025. The ideal candidate is a child-centered educator who believes in the potential of every learner and values the importance of building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned to state standards and tailored to meet the diverse needs of all learners </li><li>Foster a classroom culture of respect, belonging, and joyful learning </li><li>Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and monitor student progress </li><li>Collaborate with grade-level and support teams to plan, reflect, and grow together </li><li>Communicate regularly with families to build partnership and support student success </li><li>Participate in professional development and school-based initiatives </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2) </li><li>Experience working with young learners in a school setting preferred </li><li>Strong understanding of Science of Reading, balanced literacy, foundational math, and social-emotional learning </li><li>Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices </li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills </li></ul> <p>Why Waverly?</p> <ul> <li>A supportive and collaborative school culture </li><li>A strong focus on teacher development and growth </li><li>Engaged families and a diverse, dynamic student body </li><li>Opportunities to innovate and lead </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>NYS certification: Early Childhood Education or Childhood Education </li><li>NYSED Fingerprint Clearance* </li></ul> <p>Employment Terms:</p> <ul> <li>10-month, probationary position </li><li>Salary range in accordance with the Eastchester Teachers Association (ETA) negotiated salary schedule; $62,620 - $86,668, step placement contingent upon prior related experience. </li><li>Fingerprint Clearance: SAVE Law: Effective July 1, 2001, Education Law §§305(30), 3004-b, 3004-c and 3035, as amended by Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and Part 87 of the Commissioner's Regulations require the Commissioner of Education to request a fingerprint-supported criminal history background check for applicants for certification as well as for prospective employees of school districts, charter schools and boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES).
