<p>Arts & Sciences-Curriculum/Instruction department is seeking an instructor who can teach one</p> <p>section of QSX 111 Queer Histories, Communities, and Politics (3 credits) during the fall 2025 semester. This is one of two core courses for the LGBT Studies minor (QSX111 and QSX 112).</p> <p>QSX 111 explores and analyzes lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender histories, communities, and politics from the ancient past to the contemporary, global present through an interdisciplinary reading of research, theory, memoir, biography, fiction, and documentary film.</p> <p>Resources are available to support the instructor as they design their version of the course (e.g., sample syllabi, mentors).</p> <p>This course meets biweekly and enrolls about 55-60 students. There is a Teaching Assistant assigned to the course.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD or highest terminal degree in relevant field. </li><li>Knowledge of LGBTQ Studies. </li><li>Undergraduate teaching experience. </li><li>Ability to supervise and mentor a TA. </li></ul> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Developing and/or updating a class syllabus. </li><li>Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date. </li><li>Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments. </li><li>Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of 2 hour(s) per week. </li><li>Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class. </li><li>Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class. </li><li>Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes. </li><li>Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations. </li><li>Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner. </li><li>Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations. </li><li>Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department's policies for part-time instructors. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a curriculum vitae and cover letter.</p>
