<p>General Summary: The Medical Assistant plays a key role in supporting both clinical and administrative functions to ensure the delivery of efficient, high-quality, and patient-centered care. Core responsibilities include obtaining and documenting vital signs, assisting with exams and procedures, performing venipuncture and injections, and maintaining accurate medical records. The Medical Assistant also reviews charts for overdue labs, EKGs, or assessments and communicates timely updates to providers. Additionally, this role supports scheduling, patient communication, and coordination across the interdisciplinary care team. Through effective collaboration and attention to detail, the Medical Assistant enhances patient satisfaction, supports regulatory compliance, and contributes to the clinic's overall care delivery goals. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical Support & Member Observation:</p> <p>Obtain and document complete vital signs for all in-person visits; provide clinical justification when unable to collect. Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers with procedures as needed, including venipuncture and administering injections. Observe members during visits, listen attentively to concerns, and record observations accurately in the clinical record. Document and report any behavioral or interaction-related concerns in accordance with organizational policy. Monitor members' physical and mental health status; identify signs and symptoms of mental illness and report concerns to the appropriate clinical staff per policy. Maintain accurate medical records, assessments, and diagnostic criteria in compliance with clinic protocols and healthcare regulations.</p> <p>Care Coordination & Integrated Services:</p> <p>Support scheduling, appointment coordination, and patient flow to ensure continuity and efficiency of care. Collaborate with primary care and behavioral health providers, case managers, and interdisciplinary teams to offer individualized, integrated support based on member needs. Communicate overdue preventive and clinical measures such as labs, EKGs, and assessments to providers. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with members, their families, and support systems. Assist in the development and monitoring of individualized service plans that are time-specific, action-oriented, and aligned with member goals. Advocate for and facilitate access to community resources and services to support whole-person care. Explore alternative resource options to enhance service delivery and improve patient outcomes.</p> <p>Documentation, Billing & Compliance:</p> <p>Maintain and update member records, including assessments, service plans, and progress notes. Accurately complete documentation using appropriate covered service billing codes (e.g., CPT and T1016 codes), meeting unit and engagement expectations. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and reporting to support compliance and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, safety regulations, clinical policies, and documentation standards. Responsible for following agency policies, procedures, and controls related to access, protection, and use of protected health information (PHI).</p> <p>Professionalism & Training:</p> <p>Exhibit professionalism and serve as a positive role model for members, peers, and external stakeholders. Demonstrate adaptability and initiative in supporting quality medical services and collaborative care efforts. Attend and actively participate in individual and team supervision sessions as required by licensing bodies, the organization, or supervisors. Complete all mandatory training and continuing education as required by licensing, funding sources, or agency policy. Maintain an approved work schedule and an acceptable level of attendance in accordance with agency expectations.</p> <p>Additional Duties (As Needed):</p> <p>Provide transportation for members using personal or agency vehicles, when appropriate and approved. Identify appropriate providers and facilities across the continuum of care to support integrated treatment. Assist with interpreting and communicating information related to assessments, diagnostic tools, and care planning.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum Experience Required: 2 years in a psychiatric setting. Certification Requirement: CCMA/RMA BH Level: BHPP</p> <p>REGULATORY:</p> <p>Minimum 18 years of age. Valid AZ DPS Level I fingerprint clearance card (must maintain valid card throughout employment) CPR, First Aid, AED certification, if required (must maintain throughout employment).
