The candidate selected for this position will report to job sites located throughout IDOT District 2 and will primarily assist with projects located in Ogle, Winnebago, or Boone counties in Illinois. The candidate will support the firms construction group on a variety of projects ranging from roadways to underground utility installations. Additionally, this position will assist with the planning, design, and construction of a variety of facilities. This position will also offer the opportunity to work directly with firm clients.</p> <p>What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job</p> <ul> <li>Illinois DOT contract documentation and inspection. </li><li>Quantity Computation. </li><li>Construction Layout/Survey. </li><li>Observe, measure and document construction activities. </li><li>Conduct on-site observation of work, repairs, and tests as needed. </li><li>Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors and public agencies. </li><li>Endeavor to provide protection for owner against defects and deficiencies in the work. </li><li>Serve as liaison with contractor. </li><li>Maintain job site records of daily reports, job meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests in IDOT CMMS. </li><li>Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required during project delivery. </li><li>General civil engineering and client service. </li><li>Other responsibilities as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Must-haves, what you will bring</p> <ul> <li>2+ years of experience working as a Construction Inspector or Technician on construction projects. </li><li>Experience with IDOT CMMS software. </li><li>IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification. </li><li>Effective communication, both oral and written, with residents, businesses and public agencies. </li><li>Ability to travel throughout the IDOT District 2 area. </li><li>Work in a team environment. </li><li>Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>E.I.T (Engineer in Training) certification. </li><li>B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. </li></ul> <p>Compensation - The pay range for this role is $28.00 - $40.00 per hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.</p> <p>You matter!
