<p>Metals USA is seeking a 1st Shift Maintenance Technician for our Walker, MI location. Reasonable Accommodations possibly be considered to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists </li><li>Reassembles machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work </li><li>Starts machines and observes mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems </li><li>Inspects or tests damaged machine parts, and marks defective areas or advises supervisor of repair needs </li><li>Lubricates or applies adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures </li><li>Installs, replaces, or changes machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications </li><li>Records production, repair, and machine maintenance information </li><li>Reads maintenance repair work orders and specifications to determine machine and equipment requiring repair or maintenance </li><li>Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment </li><li>Maintains equipment files and orders spare-parts inventory on service center equipment and work effectively with operations to implement a preventive maintenance program to improve equipment uptime (or reliability) </li><li>May occasionally drive personal vehicle to pickup supplies as needed (miles are reimbursed) </li><li>Comply with all safety regulations and procedures </li><li>Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote the same throughout the facility </li><li>Perform highly diverse duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment </li><li>Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service </li><li>Perform basic machinist duties and responsibilities </li><li>Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service </li><li>Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties </li><li>Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test and adjust </li><li>Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities as prescribed in the preventative/predictive maintenance plan </li><li>Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications </li><li>Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines </li></ul> <p>Metals USA offers competitive wages and benefits plus upward mobility towards professional growth.</p> <p>Metals USA is committed to protecting our employees by creating and maintaining a workplace free of substance abuse.</p> <p>Metals USA provides equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability.</p> <ul> <li>Must have Vocational/Trade School education in electrical/mechanical work or Journey-level experience equivalent </li><li>Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems </li><li>Able to read and write, speak English </li><li>Able to lift to 50lbs. </li><li>Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. </li><li>Minimum one (1) years' experience in general maintenance repair work </li><li>Experience on overhead cranes operation desired </li><li>Must possess a Valid Driver's License </li><li>Requires a competent technical aptitude, demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination </li><li>Position requires availability for emergency call-ins, shutdown work to repair equipment as needed in the evenings and/or weekends </li></ul>
