<p>Paraprofessional</p> <p>DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Paraprofessionals support students and do not generally have child specific assignments, but rather are assigned to a classroom or classrooms.</p> <p>REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>High school degree or higher </li><li>Enjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all children </li><li>Experience working in an urban district. </li><li>EPS respects linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring value to the district culture and diversity. </li></ul> <p>WORKING TIME</p> <p>Hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>General support of a classroom or classrooms </li><li>Provide academic support and carry over of the lessons the teacher and special education teacher have developed </li><li>Provide all accommodations delineated within a student's designated IEP/504 </li><li>Implement modifications that have been developed by the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacher </li><li>Develop materials based on specific instructions from the classroom teacher and/or Special Education teacher </li><li>Create opportunities and instruct students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school day </li><li>Potentially assigned to multiple/different classroom grade levels </li><li>Ability to implement behavioral/social support plans within the classroom to individual students or groups of students (including but not limited to attending, non-compliance, completion of tasks, following rules, and classroom expectations) </li><li>Provide small- or whole-group assistance within the classroom </li><li>Regular Education and Special Education students will be supported </li><li>Engage individual and small groups of learners in instructional activities </li><li>Share relevant information about learners with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem-solving, decision-making, and program planning </li><li>Support students in accessing a variety of technologies </li><li>Complete all required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, assault, etc. </li><li>Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instruction </li><li>Facilitate positive relationships and engagements with peers </li><li>Support students with the organization of materials, assignments, and schedules </li><li>Based on the student population and census in the buildings, they may be assigned to different buildings </li><li>Ensure that all accommodations outlined in the IEPs are implemented based on student needs </li><li>Support students during their specials, lunch, and recess times </li><li>Facilitate and support arrival and dismissal times </li><li>Maintain student confidentiality </li><li>Carry out other assignments designated by the Principal. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands and Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. </li><li>The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, climb, run. </li><li>The employee must occasionally be able to lift and/or move children/objects. </li><li>The employee must be able to work in a noisy, stressful, high-pressure environment and still be able to concentrate and keep children safe. </li><li>Ability to respond to emergency situations (e.g., injured student, fights, behavior problems, abusive students, etc). </li><li>May be exposed to bodily fluids, including saliva, urine, feces, vomit, blood, and/or other bodily fluids. </li><li>The job is performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness, although in a clean environment. </li><li>May assist medically fragile or physically disabled students for the purpose of maintaining students' hygiene. </li><li>May assist students with physical and/or cognitive disabilities with grooming, feeding, toileting, and diapering. </li></ul> <p>SALARY</p> <p>Salary for this position will be based on the Everett Teachers Association (Paraprofessional)</p> <p>The Everett Public Schools, in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate in its programs, facilities, or employment or educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record (inquiries only), disability, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' dignity or interferes with their ability to learn or work.</p>
