<p>Locations: Portland, OR</p> <p>Type:Urban</p> <p>Salary Range:$250,000 to $282,000 / Per Year</p> <p>Open Period:5/5/2026 until filled</p> <p>Summary:In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Deputy Chief Medical Officer oversees the medical care delivery system, including development and implementation of strategies, programs, policies, and procedures for all medical services at NARA NW. The Deputy CMO serves as a key clinical leader supporting high-quality patient care, provider operations, regulatory compliance, and organizational initiatives across NARA NW. This position is approximately 25-30% administrative responsibilities and 70-75% direct clinical care.</p> <p>Duties:-Provide direct medical services to patients while demonstrating awareness and sensitivity to Native American health care needs. -Assist the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in supervision of medical staff at all NARA locations (health and satellite clinics as well as Outpatient and Residential facilities): Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Nursing Supervisor, Pharmacy Director, and acupuncturist. -Assist the CMO in developing and implementing medical policies, protocols, and procedures. -Work in collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Operations Officer, and Chief Health and Wellness Officer in overseeing and execution of medical services and associated quality improvement efforts. -Function as liaison with outside providers, hospitals, and other health care organizations. -Establish consultative referrals network and coordinate linkages with contractual pharmacy, hospital-based admitting physicians, and reference labs. -Participate as a member of the clinic's management team. -Assure that the NARA NW Indian Health Clinic's medical services are in full compliance with standards, ethics, and license requirements of the medical profession. -Monitor peer review to assure total quality improvement in ongoing patient care. -Participate in on-call service coverage.</p> <p>Qualifications:-Current unrestricted Oregon license as Physician (MD/DO) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Naturopathic Physician (ND), or ability to obtain prior to start. -Current DEA registration and prescribing authority as required. -Minimum of 2 years progressively responsible experience in clinical practice, healthcare leadership, medical operations, or provider supervision within a healthcare setting. -Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, quality standards, and patient safety practices. -Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community preferred. -Family Practice / Primary Care experience preferred. -FQHC / community health center experience preferred. -Prior experience leading interdisciplinary teams and supporting organizational initiatives preferred. -Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests. -Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.</p> <p>Work Type:Permanent, Full</p>
