<p>The Accountant Senior position is located at Juvenile Court and performs the more complex professional accounting functions.  Performs related duties as required.</p> <p>Davidson County Juvenile Court's mission is to prevent problems, promote the positive potential in all people, and pursue fairness and hope.</p> <ul> <li>Performs professional accounting duties. </li><li>Prepares various types of financial statements and supporting documentation. </li><li>Assists in budget administration. </li><li>Reconciles accounts. </li><li>Researches and resolves accounting problems as needed. </li><li>Assists with audits as assigned. </li><li>Prepares balance sheets and other financial reports. </li><li>Analyzes trends, costs, revenue, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. </li><li>Reports finances to managements and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. </li><li>Posts various types of accounting transactions. </li><li>Prepares and processes various financial forms. </li><li>May assist with preparation of payrolls. </li><li>Orders and accounts for fixed assets and supplies. </li><li>Processes and maintains financial/accounting documents and records.  </li><li>Participates in various financial compliance related tasks. </li><li>Researches, analyzes, interprets, and produces financial and narrative reports and/or </li></ul> <p>projections.</p> <ul> <li>Studies and verifies accurate financial information. </li><li>Keeps records on disbursements. </li><li>Handles complaints and questions regarding finance related issues. </li><li>Interprets accounting policies and procedures. </li><li>Provides analytical services to court departments. </li><li>May perform various lead or supervisory duties. </li><li>Assigns and reviews work. </li><li>Evaluates employee performance. </li><li>Approves leave requests. </li><li>Counsels with and corrects employees as needed. </li><li>Attends meetings as needed. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in a financial related field and four (4) years of finance/accounting experience, of which two (2) years must have been in a supervisory capacity.</p> <p> <em>No Substitution</em></p> <p> </p> <p>Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078.
