<p>Position Title: Assistant Mechanical Superintendent Reports To: Mechanical Department Manager</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Assists Mechanical/Machinist Superintendent in supervising approximately 15-20 machinists and mechanics work in support of ship repair and product fabrication. This includes but is not limited to: repair of mechanical components, manufacture and repair of components by machining, fabricating components with CNC cutters, mills, lathes, disassembly/reassembly of various shipboard machinery/equipment, and installation/re-installation of shipboard machinery/equipment. Under direction and in collaboration with the Superintendent, supervises union ship workers engaged in mechanical and machinist duties ensuring accomplishment of assigned work on time and within budget. Enforces safety and environmental regulations. The assistant superintendent generates job assignments and communicates to subordinate employees, makes recommendations to the superintendent on matters related to hiring, termination, suspension, advancement, promotion, demotion, discipline, addresses or adjust employee grievances and other supervisory duties as required. In the absence of the Superintendent, will assume duties and responsibilities as directed by the Production Manager.</p> <p>Pacific Shipyards International, LLC. Expectations of Employee:</p> <ul> <li>Is committed to the company values and adheres to all policies and procedures. </li><li>Perform duties of his/her job and as assigned by Management. </li><li>Maintain a positive and respectful attitude and conduct her/himself with integrity and in a polite, professional manner treating customers and co-workers courteously and respectfully. </li><li>Communicates regularly with Officers, Managers & Supervisors about the different divisions and department's issues. </li><li>Consistently be on time for work, meetings and appointments and deliver work projects by assigned due dates. </li><li>Maintain assigned work areas in a clean and orderly fashion. </li><li>Maintain and ensure the safety of all assigned equipment. </li><li>Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. </li><li>Meet productivity goals and quality standards as set by management. </li></ul> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Direct and organize staff and equipment to meet project requirements and deadlines. </li><li>Prioritize work and tasks as directed by Production Manager and Superintendent. </li><li>Interact with customers as required </li><li>Meet deadlines and budget constraints </li><li>Work with minimum supervision </li><li>Supervises the mechanics and machinists </li><li>Responsible for assisting management, in mentoring and review of performance on a regular basis </li><li>Develop work and production schedules, project staffing needs </li><li>Approve Time Cards, requests for time off </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Skills/Technical Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent communication skills, good attitude and exceptional work ethic </li><li>Good attitude; must be a team player </li></ul> <p>Education, Training & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the marine industry and NAVSEA Standards </li><li>Preferred mechanical engineering background </li><li>Must be flexible in work hours. Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required based on the needs of the business. </li><li>Minimum five (5) years of ship repair or marine industry experience preferred </li><li>Extensive knowledge of ship repair processes. </li></ul>
