<p>The purpose of this position is to "seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion." The Elevator Mechanic Helper position supports Elevator Mechanics and the Supervisor to ensure that church-owned elevators, escalators, and other units assigned are aesthetically maintained to meet the Church's standards. The person in this position will also help ensure that the work is done in a timely manner that meets division commitments.</p> <p>Pay range for this position will be: $30.00 - $35.00/hr depending on experience and education.</p> <ul> <li>Installs new finishes, maintains, and refinishes all assigned conveyance finishes. </li><li>Travels to perform conveyance work across the United States in facilities owned by the Church. </li><li>Maintains other metal finishes as assigned. </li><li>Assists in conveyance maintenance, repairs, and modernization as needed with and under the direction of an Elevator Mechanic. </li><li>Assists with onsite support for events. </li><li>Performs other tasks as assigned by Management. </li></ul> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Requires four years of experience as a journeyman-level finisher. </li><li>Able to travel on a regular basis, both driving and flying. </li><li>Required to become proficient with computers for the use of Microsoft Office software. </li><li>Follows proper safety procedures when accessing elevator pits, car-top, and machine spaces. </li><li>Measures accurately and make conversions to other types of units, linear, speeds, fluids, weights, etc. </li><li>Able to use hand and power tools accurately and safely to install and refinish surface finishes. </li><li>Experience in Mohawk techniques in touching up wood grains and patinaed finishes. </li><li>Experience in finishing metals in painted as well as natural with protective finishes. </li><li>Can work from ladders, scaffolds, mechanical lifts, and on top of elevator cars for extended periods of time. </li><li>Passes all required safety and equipment certifications and training. </li><li>Capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing in English and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed. </li><li>Able to work in a team in a professional manner as well as alone without supervision. </li><li>Valid driver's license required and may be required to become DOT-certified. </li><li>Capable of bending, kneeling, squatting, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time. </li><li>Good eye-hand-foot coordination. </li><li>Required to have stable and controlled hand movements. </li><li>Can independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds. </li><li>Ability to team lift and position objects weighing as much as 100 pounds on an occasional basis. </li><li>Able to work in confined spaces with low light levels for extended periods of time.• </li></ul> <p>Required to have at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision.</p>
