These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The 9th Grade Academy is looking for a new team member to support our school community. The Building Based Educator will work to support students during academic and social situations as well as working across classrooms.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <p>Teach foundational reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science according to Common Core and Massachusetts Curriculum Standards</p> <p>Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher</p> <p>Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher</p> <p>Assist with such large group activities as reading aloud, storytelling, etc</p> <p>Create a classroom environment that is culturally responsive and conducive to learning, is age-appropriate and considers the interests of the students using a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, hands-on and play-based learning, discovery/center-based learning, etc.</p> <p>Uses relationship building as the foundation for behavior management and utilizes restorative practices to address behavior concerns</p> <p>Communicates with classroom teacher about any concerns regarding students.</p> <p>Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of the information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.</p> <p>Additional duties as assigned</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:</p> <p>Understanding of early childhood development</p> <p>Strong classroom management skills</p> <p>Knowledge of restorative practices</p> <p>Ability to implement a safe, purposeful classroom environment that prioritizes learning for all students.</p> <p>Ability to collaborate with other teachers, instructional leaders, and partners to ensure instruction is meeting the needs of all students</p> <p>Qualifications & Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree preferred; minimum of an Associate's Degree required </li><li>Excellent communication skills in English are required </li><li>Bilingualism (Spanish) highly preferred </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
