<p>THE POSITION</p> <ul> <li>CONTINUOUS UNTIL FILLED* </li></ul> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>Under general supervision, supervises and teaches aquatic activities at a community swimming pool; and performs related duties as required.</p> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>Varies from Sunday- Saturday from 7:00 am- 9:00 pm</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES</p> <p>(These functions are representative and may not be present in all positions in the class. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change or rescind related duties and work assignments.)</p> <ul> <li>Enforces established rules and regulations governing the safe us of pools. </li><li>Monitors the swimming pool and surrounding area in order to prevent emergencies. </li><li>Rescues bathers as necessary. </li><li>Renders CPR and first aid as needed. </li><li>Maintains and cleans the pool and surrounding area. </li><li>Prepares reports of rescues or unusual occurrences. </li><li>Interprets current policies and procedures to the public. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>A typical way to obtain the requisite qualifications to perform the duties of this class is as follows:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>Completion of formal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at the level required for successful job performance.</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>CPR, and first aid. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor pool and deck area. </li><li>Enforce water safety rules and regulations. </li><li>Perform rescues and render first aid and CPR as necessary. </li><li>Effectively communicate both orally and in writing. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. </li></ul> <p>License and Certificates:</p> <ul> <li>Possession of an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Standard First Aid certificate. Possession of an American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate. </li></ul> <p>RECRUITMENT PROCESS</p> <p>Applications will be screened and evaluated for relevant training and experience.
