As a</p> <p>member of the team, the Staff Accountant contributes to the company's success by ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial statements. A successful Staff Accountant combines excellent analytical skills, problem-solving skills, knowledge of accounting principles, strong communication skills and attention to detail.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Perform month-end accounting, including journal entry preparation and reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts. </li><li>Prepare variance analysis during the month-end reviews. </li><li>Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements and footnotes submitted to Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. </li><li>Assist external audit and tax teams by preparing schedules, explaining supporting material and procedures, and any other data as needed. </li><li>Assist with monthly sales tax filings, census reporting, and business license renewals. </li><li>Cross-departmental collaboration and communication on various projects and tasks. </li><li>Assist Global Payroll Analyst with bi-weekly payroll processing needs </li></ul> <p>What Success Looks Like</p> <ul> <li>Communicates Effectively: Clearly conveys financial information, both verbally and in writing, to colleagues across the organization. </li><li>Financial Acumen: Demonstrates solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and the impact of financial data on business decisions. </li><li>Manages Complexity: Effectively handles detailed, multi-step tasks and reconciliations with clarity, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills while meeting deadlines and managing time-sensitive responsibilities. </li><li>Time Management: Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages competing deadlines, and supports a structured monthly close process by completing assigned responsibilities accurately and on schedule. </li><li>Attention to Detail and Accuracy: Produces precise, error-free work, ensuring financial records and reports are completed with thoroughness and care. </li><li>Optimizes Work: Looks for ways to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and enhance efficiency within accounting operations. Demonstrates curiosity and a willingness to learn new systems, standards, and company processes to support ongoing improvement. </li></ul> <p>Measures of Success</p> <ul> <li>Meeting Deadlines </li><li>Monthly Close Metrics </li><li>Successful Partnership Across the Organization </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting </li><li>0-2 years of general accounting experience, public accounting preferred </li><li>Intermediate to advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required </li><li>CPA, or currently sitting for CPA a plus </li><li>Oracle and Hyperion experience a plus </li></ul> <p>What We're Offering</p> <p>Compensation, benefits, and logistics</p> <p>The anticipated salary range for this position starts at $55,000-65,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
