<p>THIS POSITION IS OPEN FOR CURRENT XAVIER UNIVERSITY CPS FACULTY ONLY</p> <p>The College of Professional Sciences Dean's Office seeks a strategic, forward-thinking, thoughtful, and collaborative associate or full professor or senior teaching professor from among the faculty to join the existing team as an Associate Dean. This will allow us to better serve the College. The Associate Dean will have demonstrated leadership experience and strength in effectively working with others.</p> <p>Our College consists of undergraduate and graduate programs across 2 schools, 6 departments (soon to be 7 with the addition of Speech Language and Communicative Behavior), and a Military Science leadership training and development program - ROTC. Additionally, the College is home to a preschool-6th grade laboratory school, St. Peter Faber Academy, and two outward-facing centers, the Center for Population Health and the Center for Education. All of these units carry out work aligned with the Jesuit Catholic Mission of Xavier University and focus on "changing human lives for the better" with an emphasis on experiential learning.</p> <p>The newly appointed Associate Dean will provide leadership to advance and support our College. The Associate Dean joins a vibrant and dedicated existing CPS Dean's Team. This is a 12-month appointment and will include a teaching load of two courses per year.</p> <p>The Associate Dean contributes to the integrity, excellence, and ongoing development of departments, schools, centers, and programs in the College of Professional Sciences. The position requires oversight and execution of academic and administrative duties in areas such as accreditation, recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate students, enhancement of processes and procedures, and fiscal responsibility; direct supervision of St. Peter Faber Academy; and close collaboration with members of the Dean's office. The Associate Dean demonstrates an understanding of the complex functions of the University and the role of the College in the University, effective management of personnel, and the ability to drive initiatives forward to meet College and University goals. The Associate Dean possesses keen interpersonal and collaborative skills, a commitment to professional development for staff and faculty, and a philosophy of continuous improvement. The Associate Dean excels in creative problem-solving and strategic thinking and promotes a positive and highly effective learning and work environment.</p> <p>JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, those listed below. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned based on areas of interest and expertise of the appointed candidate. These topics intersect with responsibilities in the portfolios of the current Assistant and Associate Dean, and we foster a collaborative environment.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Oversight of St. Peter Faber Academy, the University's Jesuit Catholic Laboratory School. Coordinates continuous integration of the school with the School of Education and other departments/schools in the College and across the University. Supervises the Principal of SPFA and provides direction to the Principal to ensure alignment of SPFA with College and University goals. Collaborates on strategic planning with the Principal. Provides leadership for marketing and promotion of the school in the broader community and within the University and collaborates with XU Marketing and Communication on such efforts. Monitors the activities, enrollment, staffing, and financial aspects of the school and makes recommendations to improve operations. Supports the Principal in facilitating event planning and activities for the children of the school. Serves on the advisory board. Provides regular reports and ongoing communication to the Dean regarding the functions of the school.</p> </li><li> <p>Support of academic programs within the College. Works with department chairs, school directors, and program directors on a variety of tasks that contribute to the goals of the College and the University. Creates, plans, and implements professional development activities and fosters growth for staff and faculty of the College. Plans the College's activities for undergraduate admissions events and collaborates with Strategic Enrollment Management to support recruitment of undergraduates to the University. Supports graduate recruitment efforts in collaboration with the Graduate Recruitment Directors. Works with department chairs, school directors, and program directors to meet their and the College's goals. Actively engages in updating standard operating procedures and processes and policies in the College. Coordinates and leads committees within the College and represents the College on University committees. Performs other job-related duties and projects as assigned by the Dean of the College.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordination of accreditation and assessment. Leads College activities related to university-wide accreditation and assessment efforts, such as those for the Higher Learning Commission and Ohio Department of Higher Education. Collaborates with Institutional Research to develop efficient processes for collection, storage, scoring, and reporting on assessment materials and other reports. Collaborates with the Provost's Office to align assessment activities in the college with the needs of university-wide assessment. Supports chairs/directors and other staff in the college to facilitate accreditation for numerous individual programs. The selection process for Associate Dean will begin with a designated open application period, participation of a search committee, and an announcement of the finalists. Finalists will be interviewed by the search committee and the Dean. Feedback will be solicited from members of the College. The Dean will consider information from these sources to appoint the Associate Dean.
