<p>Department Summary:</p> <p>The Behavioral Health Transport Program, staffed with an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC), utilizing non-ambulance vehicles, will offer an alternative model to safely and appropriately facilitate transport for behavioral health patients receiving care at Boston Children's Hospital and Franciscan Children's to other behavioral health facilities.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides assistance in the transport and management of behavioral health patients between facilities, monitoring patients for physical and psychological safety. </li><li>Operates vehicle in accordance with Massachusetts driving laws. </li><li>Able to recognize signs of escalating behavior, agitation or psychiatric distress. </li><li>Collaborates with mental health professionals to follow individualized care plans when available and utilized de-escalating techniques when appropriate. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of operation of transport vehicle and equipment and ensures proper functioning prior to transport. </li><li>Demonstrates continued professional growth through continuing education while maintaining competency as an EMT through required training and/or education. Also participates in Quality Assurance Program in conjunction with the Medical Director, Program Manager, and other medical control physicians. </li><li>18hrs; days with rotating weekends. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma or equivalent. </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>At least 3 years of previous EMT experience required. </li><li>Experience in an emergency (911) system preferred. </li><li>Work required the analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine. </li><li>Work requires frequently sitting, standing and walking for long periods. Requires bending, crouching and kneeling. Requires use of hands and fine motor skills, frequently lifting up to 50lbs.
