<p>Come work at the best place to give and receive care!</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>About Elliot Child Care Center:</p> <p>The Elliot Child Care Center is an employee sponsored Early Care and Education program that is considered an HR benefit and, as such, is not open to the public. To be eligible, a child's parent must be employed by the Elliot Hospital.</p> <p>Who We Are</p> <p>The Elliot Child Care Center has a reputation as a high-quality Child-Development program with little teacher turn-over, low teacher-child ratios, and well-equipped classrooms and playgrounds. The program serves children aged 6 weeks through 6 years, year-round. The combined years of teaching experience of the team is over 300 years! This brings a wealth of knowledge and support and a commitment to providing a positive experience for all children and families.</p> <p>About the Job:</p> <p>The Lead Teacher supports the daily operation of the Elliot Child Care Center by providing childcare services and following program policy and procedures. Instructs and assists children in gaining proficiency in the areas of language, motor, social, cognitive, and self-help skills through developmentally appropriate activities and environment. As child advocates, Elliot Child Care teachers work together to provide children with a safe, nurturing environment in which they can grow and develop at their own pace. This includes respectful, professional interactions with children, families, and colleagues.</p> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, prepare, and implement curriculum that is appropriate for each child's developmental and skill level. </li><li>Establish and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment. </li><li>Supervise and interact with the children in all areas of the program. </li><li>Help maintain a program in which each child has a positive experience throughout the day, by treating all children with dignity and respect and allowing for individual difference, providing an atmosphere of acceptance and caring, showing as much individual attention as possible to each child, and providing an environment and curriculum that helps each child develop to the fullest in each area of development. </li><li>Complete monthly, weekly and daily curriculum plans. All teachers share resource materials and equipment. </li><li>Under the direction of the Director, Lead Teacher supervises the daily activities of the Elliot Child Care, Associate Teachers. </li><li>Recommend personal actions related to hiring, employee relations, and performance to Director or designee. </li><li>In conjunction with the Director, Lead Teacher completes performance reviews for the Associate Teachers. </li><li>Support Director or designee in long-range planning with regard to curriculum, program philosophy, and program goals. Be an advocate for improvement of early childhood education and for improving our program. </li><li>Communicate with families in an open, friendly, and professional manner about their children through regular interaction, including verbal and written reports. </li><li>Responsible for maintaining the observational and assessment records for each child. </li><li>Responsible for completing all required paperwork in a diligent and thorough manner. </li><li>Responsible for setting and enforcing age-appropriate rules and limits of the classroom with the children. Ensure staff and volunteers are aware of the rules and limits in order to provide consistency. </li><li>Help associate and assistant teachers to maintain a professional demeanor toward the program, the children, and the staff, and assist as needed with appropriate communication. Be an example of professional behavior and appropriate communication at all times. </li><li>Maintain courteous and professional communication and relationships with coworkers at all times. </li><li>Adhere to the program's policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures. Be ready to implement these if necessary. </li><li>Attend all staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences. Provide the Director or designee with the documentation in accordance with program and/or state requirements. </li><li>In accordance with the NH Child Care Licensing Unit, attend a minimum number of continuing education training hours. </li><li>Follow all applicable NH Child Care Program Licensing Rules. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge and Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practice. </li><li>Knowledge of NH Child Care Program Licensing Rules. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively and establish a cooperative, collaborative working environment. Ability to facilitate communication between and among others. </li><li>Ability to demonstrate courtesy, compassion and respect in relating to children, families, visitors and coworkers. </li><li>Ability to accept constructive feedback and initiate appropriate actions to correct situations. </li><li>Ability to perform all activities outlined in the Orientation Guidelines. </li><li>Ability to maintain good communications; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, families, children and the public. </li><li>Willingness to identify and take action toward meeting own learning needs. </li><li>Ability to endure periods of heavy workload and stress. </li><li>Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations. </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: A minimum of 18 credits in early childhood education from a regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in child growth and development; or documentation of lead teacher qualification on or before the adoption of current NH Child Care Program Rules. </li><li>Experience: Minimum of 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed childcare program. </li><li>Certification/Licensure: NH Early Childhood Credential Preferred.
