Must be available to work additional hours as needed dependent on Program needs.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Recreation Superintendent is responsible for overseeing Athletics, Aquatics, Cultural Services & Special Events, Latchkey, Park Enforcement, Recreation Centers, Tennis, and Summer Youth Programs division, as well as various grants.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Oversee programming with the Program Services division by facilitation development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive programs to meet the department mission statement and goals. Monitor, evaluate, and recommend program improvements, research, and implement new trends </li><li>Provide supervision, support, planning, and training opportunities for division staff and encourages ideas and development of programming for the division. </li><li>Supervise employee job performance by overseeing recruitment and evaluating personnel, administer City policies and procedures, counseling employees when necessary, and coordinate new employee orientation and in-service training to meet the Program Services division and departmental goals </li><li>Monitor the maintenance and operation of facilities by ensuring, the safety and sanitation of the facility, maintaining licenses and certifications, evaluating and recommending facility improvements </li><li>This position may necessitate travel to sites within the City </li><li>Responsible for providing direction and guidance with division's annual budgets, by assisting each section with recommendations, monitoring, and approval of revenues, expenditures, and budget transfers. Acts as final division approval for all program budgets and fee schedule changes; develops decision packets for any changes within Program Services budgets </li><li>Provide internal and external customer service, by communicating effectively, providing and disseminating information to employees and the public, and acts as liaison between the City and outside agencies regarding recreation issues. Maintain professional and technical knowledge and skills by involvement with professional organizations and maintaining certifications/licenses </li><li>Maybe asked to perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Skills, Licenses, Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification with 6 months; CPRP Certification preferred </li><li>Position requires a broad knowledge in the Athletics, Aquatics, Cultural Services & Special Events, Latchkey, Park Enforcement, Recreation Centers, Tennis, and Summer Youth Programs </li><li>Aquatic Management experience highly preferred </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in Program Services Management in a Parks & Recreation Department and/or similar organization </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>A valid driver's license is required. </li><li>Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire </li></ul> <p>Other Information:</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes:</p> <ul> <li>Texas Municipal Retirement System - the City offers a 2 to 1 match.
