<p>CHILDRENS LEARNING CENTER - Summer Camp Asst Program Director</p> <p>Job Classification</p> <p>Hourly Full-time (35-40)</p> <p>Position summary</p> <p>Under guidance of the Director, this person directs the daily program of the summer camp program including overseeing all activities and staff and ensures the health and safety of the campers. Works within the framework of the program, policies, standards and expectations of Andrews University and the State of Michigan. Must be a leader, energetic, creative, positive, and flexible.</p> <p>Commitment to work 5 days per week 8 am to 4:30 pm with a lunch break from 1pm - 2 pm.</p> <p>Qualifications summary</p> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years of age or older. </li><li>Experience in leadership roles. </li><li>Ability to lead and oversee staff of all ages and levels of experience. </li><li>Ability to work long hours, in indoor and outdoor settings, requiring regular physical activity, standing for long periods. </li><li>Ability to be highly punctual and to successfully allocate and manage time. </li><li>Loves kids </li></ul> <p>Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.</p> <p>Duties and responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>This person will be trained in all aspects of their job. </li><li>Keeps the programs running on the schedule provided by the Director. </li><li>Assigns staff to coordinate or assist in activities and events on a daily basis. Instructs staff of their responsibilities for each event. </li><li>Supervises all activities and activity areas. </li><li>Monitors weather conditions when planning outdoor activities. </li><li>Accepts responsibility for maintenance and necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, gym, common use areas and outside play area. </li><li>Assists and coordinates snacks, meals, and bathroom activities. </li><li>Maintains standards for health and safety of children as related to all planned activities. </li><li>Provides the children with verbal praises and acceptance while providing clear and consistent expectations for the children's behavior. </li><li>Evaluates program activities on a weekly basis and makes adjustments as necessary. </li><li>Maintains The Crayon Box's professional attitude and work behavior. </li><li>Observes all rules and regulations The Crayon Box and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children. </li><li>Assists with activities in opening and/or closing the classroom and/or camp. </li><li>Any other duties as requested by the Director. </li></ul> <p>Supervisory responsibilities</p> <p>Will supervise assistant teachers.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lead and oversee staff of all ages and levels of experience. </li><li>Ability to work with children of all ages, understand their interests, and apply that to the development of the program. </li><li>Ability to competently supervise the daily program activities and stay on schedule. </li><li>Ability to evaluate the program objectively, and make necessary decisions and changes. </li><li>Ability to work long hours, in indoor and outdoor settings, requiring regular physical activity, standing for long periods. </li><li>Ability to be highly punctual and to successfully allocate and manage time. </li><li>Must be 18 years of age or older. </li><li>Experience in leadership roles. </li></ul> <p>Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.</p> <p>Technical competencies</p> <p>N/A</p> <p>Interpersonal interactions</p> <ul> <li>Must be comfortable interacting with the director, parents and other teachers </li><li>Must understand the social-emotional needs of school age children. </li><li></li></ul> <p>Physical demands</p> <p>The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 3% walking, and 55% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.</p> <p>Work environment</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.</p>
