<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>In conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance activities, performs skilled highway maintenance worker functions and operates medium equipment such as: combination tractor with side-mounted mower, tractor with large mower(>10' wide) and tandem dump truck. Performs a variety of tasks for the Ditching Crew related to maintenance operations, including, but not limited to, cleaning and shaping ditches, cleaning, repairing, or replacing storm drainage pipe and structures, repairing sinkholes and washouts, regrading shoulders and slopes, and clipping roadway edges. Assists other maintenance crews, as needed, with other maintenance operations to complete routine maintenance work and maintenance plans. Places traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone according to the SCOOT Work Zone Traffic Control Manual and Field Gulde. Flags traffic In work zones during roadway repair and ditching operations to control flow of raffle to protect workers, general public, and equipment. Flags traffic using sign board and/or hand held flags. Operates small engine equipment such as chain saws, weed eaters, pipe washer, forklift, tamping machines, and pavement breakers as needed. Performs duties using manual labor in maintenance operations as needed. Conducts daily preventative maintenance activities on all assigned equipment and vehicles to ensure that equipment Is greased and lubricated, proper coolant and all (engine and hydraulic) levels are maintained, hoses and belts are Inspected for deterioration, tires are properly Inflated, and no leakages are present. Conducts safety Inspections on all assigned vehicles and equipment. Assists in tracking and recording dally work performed, Including specific accomplishments, work locations, equipment utilization, and quantity of materials used. Assists in emergency or inclement weather operations; may Include being available for extended 12-hourshifts. Operates both anti-Icing and removal equipment (snow plows and sand and salt spreaders) during snow and ice response on highways and bridges. Performs other related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.</p> <p>The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
