<p>The purpose of this position is to respond to aircraft emergencies, fires, and incidents at airports; provide rescue and firefighting services; and/or perform administrative, technical tasks and functions in support of fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical and other emergency services to include but not limited to crash fire rescue, inspections, and security. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.</p> <p>The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.</p> <ul> <li>Completes training for part 139 core subjects. </li><li>Maintains and repairs apparatus, equipment and facilities; maintains landscaping, fire station and cleans the trucks. </li><li>Respond to emergency and non-emergency incidents. </li><li> Completes new and continuing education. </li><li>Conducts daily training to maintain and improve skills and knowledge. </li><li>Conducts safety and security sweep of terminals, grounds, and taxi and runways. Ensures surfaces and safety measures are intact and in working condition. </li><li>Monitor communication systems including telephones and airfield radios. </li><li>Issues safety notices on airport conditions for incoming aircraft. </li><li>Maintains a variety of required logs, records and files. </li><li>Performs related work as assigned by ARFF Chief or his designee. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years of age. </li><li>Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college. </li><li>Over one year and up to and including two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. </li><li>IFSAC Firefighter I & II. </li><li>NFPA 1003 IFSAC ARFF Firefighter. </li><li>Maintain compliance with FAR part 139, 11 core subjects along with addition required skills/training. </li><li>Current CPR/BLS certification. </li><li>40 hours of medical training. </li><li>Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history. </li></ul> <p>All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
