<p>Westford Public Schools Visual and Performing Arts education engages every child as a life-long learner through examination, interpretation, and performance. Students analyze and create all of the emotional, cultural, logical, symbolic, intuitive and physical aspects embodied in the arts to understand and share its beauty with their communities. The Visual and Performing Arts Department seeks a full time Elementary Art teacher at the K-5 level. We have a K-2 building (Nabnasset), and a 3-5 building (Abbot), where the position will be split between. There are dedicated art rooms in each school for instruction. Job Description/Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates solid working knowledge of the concepts, processes and techniques related to teaching Visual Art at the elementary level </li><li>Guide the learning process toward the achievement of district and school curriculum goals </li><li>Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicate these objectives to students </li><li>Plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to do </li><li>Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown </li><li>Give assignments that reinforce classroom instruction </li><li>Communicate student progress and development to parents </li><li>Model learning and behavior consistent with the expectations for students </li><li>Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as necessary </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum and instructional effectiveness for all students </li></ul>
