Paid vacation and sick days.</p> <p><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>Organizational Overview</p> <p>Since 1985, Pineros Y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste (PCUN) started as a union for farm workers, fighting to gain collective bargaining rights. This is a right that this country never fully gave to farmworkers. That's why 80 workers founded Pineros and Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste - to fight against exploitation and all of its effects. PCUN has advocated for Oregon farmworkers and working Latinx families, working tirelessly to empower these communities to understand and take action against systematic exploitation and its harmful effects.</p> <p>Though we have secured incredible victories over the years, like raising the minimum wage for all workers, ensuring all children in Oregon have access to health care, and becoming the largest Latinx organization in the state, the political and cultural landscape has changed drastically, and we're stepping up to face those changes head-on. Every day brings with it an urgent political or cultural challenge to address, and each new challenge highlights just how critical our advocacy and organizing work is.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <ul> <li>Implements and oversees communications programs that effectively describe and promote the organization </li><li>Develops external media relations and establishes rapport to present a positive image of the organization to external sources. </li><li>Reviews media coverage and oversees press releases for publication to external sources. </li><li>Oversees social media </li><li>Oversees the work of internal publication staff to ensure timely and accurate portrayal of messages and materials. </li><li>Respond to requests for information from the media or designate an appropriate spokesperson or information source. </li><li>Write press releases or other media communications </li><li>Update and maintain content posted on the Web </li></ul> <p>Essential Job Functions</p> <p>Media and Public Relations</p> <ul> <li>Drafts press releases and prepares staff for interviews </li><li>Develops and maintains external media relations, establishing rapport </li><li>Provides media training to key stakeholders </li><li>Drafts talking points </li></ul> <p>Project Management</p> <ul> <li>Maintains communication request protocols for the organization </li><li>Tracks progress of organizational priorities and makes recommendations to revise as needed </li><li>Routinely updates the Leadership team on the progress of strategic initiatives and projects. </li></ul> <p>Digital</p> <ul> <li>Implements a social media strategy for the organization </li><li>Update and maintain the organization's website </li></ul> <p>Staff Supervision</p> <ul> <li>Oversees key staff such as the content creator and other roles as needed </li><li>Establishes goals and ensures accountability </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Spanish </li><li>Effective written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Strong knowledge of meta platforms and other social media platforms </li><li>Knowledge of WordPress and Elementor </li><li>Understanding of public media and news sources </li><li>Experience in graphic design </li><li>Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe or others </li></ul> <p>Education and Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>At least three years of experience in media relations and/or marketing </li><li>Previous nonprofit experience </li><li>Experience in activism or activist organizations </li></ul> <p>Other Critical Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Commitment to equity, dignity, justice, and respect. </li><li>Commitment to Oregon's Farmworker Movement </li><li>Commitment to implementing and reinforcing systems </li><li>Commitment to advocacy work </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions & Physical Requirements</p> <p>The work is primarily performed in an office setting and/or remotely, with off-site meetings and events. Occasional travel may be required. Suitable candidates must be able to read, write, and interpret documents and perform highly detailed work.
