<p>What we need:</p> <p>Environmental Manager</p> <p>What we do:</p> <p>At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.</p> <p>What we need YOU to do:</p> <p>Ohio EPA wants you to be the newest environmental manager with our Office of Emergency Response (OER).</p> <p>Is 'always prepared' how you roll? Us, too.</p> <p>We're looking for a smart, level-headed individual to serve as a regional operations manager for OER's southern operations and assist in developing, coordinating, and implementing program operations that support the agency's incident response objectives.</p> <p>We'll count on you to provide clear and swift directions to agency response staff during activated disaster events and coordinate the necessary support from the incident workforce, contractors, and subject matter experts. You'll manage the ER incident workforce as appropriate, including activating and deploying the necessary parties to the incident scene and provide consistent communications and briefings to senior agency staff and other federal, state, and local officials.</p> <p>As a technical expert you'll provide outreach and information to local, county, and state emergency management directors, and help develop procedures to increase the capabilities of government disaster services and civil preparedness organizations.</p> <p>You'll oversee updates to relevant environmental emergency contingency plans, OER policies, guidance documents, and procedures through coordination and input from all appropriate agency divisions, management, and staff.</p> <p>Let's sum up the primary points.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Manage OER program operations within an assigned Regional ER Unit.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee ER staff response and deployment during incidents/disaster events.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with incident communications to senior agency staff and other federal, state, or local officials.</p> </li><li> <p>Deploy to large scale incidents to assist with response management and coordination.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee updates to relevant environmental emergency contingency plans, OER policies, and procedures.</p> </li></ul> <p>Plan to apply for this opportunity today!</p> <ul> <li>6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in position involving engineering or chemistry, physics, biology &/or comparable science field &/or mathematics &/or history &/or archaeology which included responsibility for developing, coordinating & implementing programs for specific environmental area (e.g., air pollution; water pollution; solid/hazardous waste planning; ecological impact assessment; water quality monitoring & assessment; ground water or laboratory services); AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. as lead worker or supervisor or in administrative capacity. Note: Training &/or experience must correspond to environmental area to be assigned. Positions in Environmental Protection Agency's solid waste program, excluding positions in solid waste planning unit, also require valid Ohio certificate of registration as sanitarian or valid Ohio certificate as sanitarian-in-training. </li><li>OR 12 mos. as Environmental Supervisor, 85865. </li><li>OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above. </li></ul> <p>Job Skills: Environmental Services, Management, Leading Others, Customer Focus, Critical Thinking</p>
