Our mission is guided by our Strategic Principles and has three critical components; patient care, education and research that together enhance our contribution to society.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician positions are available in the adult acute care setting. Looking to create a diverse team to help perform patient care activities. Locations include Central Pharmacy, Central Pharmacy Cleanroom (sterile compounding), Operating Room (OR)/Cardiovascular Center (CVC), Adult Emergency Services (AES), and the Pavilion Pharmacy Satellites. Specific areas and shift times are available depending on current area needs.</p> <p>General Pharmacy Technician duties may include:</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals </li><li>Prepare sterile products, injections and IV chemotherapy </li><li>Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units </li><li>Correctly distribute and account for controlled substances usage </li><li>Deliver medications to nursing units including surgical rooms </li><li>Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory, properly dispose expired medications or return to manufacturer </li><li>Prepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols </li><li>Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries </li><li>Assist the Pharmacist with auditing controlled substance utilization </li><li>Complete restocking and dispensing activities using pharmacy automation </li><li>Receive orders and prepare and package medications for outside clinics </li><li>Build various medication kits, providing support to many different professions </li><li>Conduct admission medication histories </li><li>Assist the pharmacist in resuscitation bays </li><li>Performing pharmacy cleaning and documentation </li><li>Assist with training of staff </li><li>Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications </li><li>Work in a highly collaborative environment including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Managers, Technician Supervisors, and other medical professionals </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <p>Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity: lifting, pulling, bending, manual dexterity movements. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, prioritize with accuracy and dependability: Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician Associate:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Current licensure that meets the State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician licensing requirements. This includes: A temporary pharmacy technician license (valid for 1 year and is non-renewable) or a full pharmacy technician license upon hire, or a full pharmacy technician license before the temporary license expires. </li><li>Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills. </li><li>This position requires primary source verification </li></ul> <p>Pharmacy Technician Intermediate:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Current licensure that meets the State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician licensing requirements. This includes: A temporary pharmacy technician license (valid for 1 year and is non-renewable) or a full pharmacy technician license upon hire, or a full pharmacy technician license before the temporary license expires. </li><li>Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills. </li><li>This position requires primary source verification </li></ul> <p>Pharmacy Technician Senior:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Current licensure that meets the State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician licensing requirements. This includes: A temporary pharmacy technician license (valid for 1 year and is non-renewable) or a full pharmacy technician license upon hire, or a full pharmacy technician license before the temporary license expires. </li><li>One or more years of relevant pharmacy experience. </li><li>Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematic skills. </li><li>This position requires primary source verification </li></ul> <p>Pharmacy Technician Graduate:</p> <ul> <li>Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience </li><li>Eligible for licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan Pharmacy or currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan (Temporary License or Full License). If the individual is not licensed, they will be required to obtain a Temporary Pharmacy Technician License on or before the hire date (valid for 1 year and is non-renewable). The individual will then be required to obtain a Full Pharmacy Technician License within 6 months of hire into a Pharmacy Technician Associate position, or before the expiration of the Temporary Pharmacy Technician License (whichever is sooner). </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <p>At least one year of technician experience or completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program is highly desirable. The new regulations allow for a one-time temporary license for up to 1 year, during which time a Technician must successfully complete requirements to become certified and meet all other State of Michigan requirements for a Full Pharmacy Technician License.
