<p>The Crown division of Penguin Random House is seeking a meticulous and proactive individual to join our team as a Financial Analyst. This position will provide support to the finance team in managing and analyzing the day-to-day operations of the division. Specifically, this position will play an active role in monthly reporting and analysis, forecasting and ad hoc analysis for the fast-growing imprints in the Crown Publishing business, including Crown, Crown Currency, Clarkson Potter, Ten Speed Press, Compendium, and Storehouse Voices. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and motivated person who is looking to grow and gain experience within a financial team supporting a growing publishing division.</p> <p>Specific responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Manages monthly financial closings, including detailed analyses of sales, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, accruals and title count. </li><li>Creates monthly summaries of financial performance and key performance indicators for the Crown and corporate teams. </li><li>Performs quarterly analysis on travel and marketing spend for Crown. </li><li>Assists in preparing formal forecasts for corporate submissions using Anaplan software. </li><li>Generates post-mortem analysis of previous acquisitions/publications to help inform editorial decisions. </li><li>Provides analysis to support production staff in making print and reprint decisions. </li><li>Assists marketing staff with updating marketing budgeting systems. </li><li>Reviews author contract information sheets, travel & entertainment expenses, and invoices and answers any coding or other related questions. </li><li>Enhances and increases speed of monthly reporting, analysis and business intelligence utilizing software skills such as Microsoft Power BI, Anaplan, and/or ChatGPT. </li></ul> <p>Please apply if you meet the following qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>1-2 years of relevant work experience preferably in a finance/accounting role, or related analytical role </li><li>Strong business and analytical skills, including an understanding of basic financial and accounting principles </li><li>Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Excel (including vlookups and pivot tables) and PowerPoint </li><li>Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize </li><li>Attention to detail and accuracy, ideally combined with an ability to see the big picture </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues across all levels and functions </li><li>Ability to take initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team </li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI, Anaplan, SAP, and ChatGPT preferred </li><li>Strong interest in the publishing industry and a love for books are strong pluses </li></ul> <p>The salary range for this position is $66,500-$71,000.
