<p>Department</p> <p>Public Health Program (Social Science Health Policy Research)</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Academic Affairs and Student Support:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as point of contact for academic affairs for students and faculty in the Public Health program. </li><li>Maintains the Graduate Student Handbook. </li><li>Advises graduate students and faculty on academic policies and procedures, program requirements, and registration. </li><li>Communicates to students important upcoming deadlines. </li><li>Monitors student progression towards completion of MPH degree. </li><li>Initiates and manages the completion of forms from the Graduate School, Registrar's Office, and COSSPP related to students' progress in the program. </li><li>Supports department orientation for new graduate students. </li><li>Works with the Office of Academic Affairs to clear students for graduation. </li><li>Receives guidance and meets deadlines as directed by the Office of Academic Affairs. </li><li>In coordination with the COSSPP academic dean's office and Public Health leadership, messages Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) students about changes to mapping, courses, or policies. </li><li>Assists with editing Graduate and Undergraduate Bulletins annually. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Promoting and advising for the MPH, combined BSPH-MPH pathway, joint degrees, and certificate programs </li><li>Builds and coordinates semester course schedules for the program. </li><li>Works with Space Scheduling to book classrooms for BSPH and MPH courses. </li><li>Monitors and manages undergraduate registration issues and tracks curriculum request applications, and HITM registrations. </li><li>Processes transfer credit equivalencies and exceptions. </li><li>Serves as a member on the Graduate Program Committee and the Undergraduate Program Committee, assists in the training of OPS employees and graduate student assistants and takes on other duties as assigned by program leadership. </li><li>Provides self-enrollment codes to students needing special permission to register for courses. </li><li>Provides suggestions for updates to the Public Health program websites. </li><li>Distributes important program information to BSPH and MPH students as needed. </li></ul> <p>Recruitment and Admissions:</p> <ul> <li>Identifies and attends graduate student recruitment events to publicize the program. </li><li>Processes graduate student admissions decisions. </li><li>Supports recruitment to the MPH program including attending graduate program fairs, marketing the graduate program to prospective students </li><li>Answering inquiries from prospective students </li><li>Ensures students meet residency requirements, including Florida residency for US applicants, working with CGE regarding visa issues with international students. </li></ul> <p>Graduate Assistantships:</p> <ul> <li>Collects graduate student appointment information. </li><li>Assists departmental administrative specialist to prepare and distribute graduate student job offers and letters of appointment. </li><li>Disseminates information about GA/TA certification and monitors completion. </li><li>Processes tuition waivers. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelors degree and four years of related experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years in the same.</p> <p>University Information</p> <p>One of the nation's elite research universities, Florida State University preserves, expands, and disseminates knowledge in the sciences, technology, arts, humanities, and professions, while embracing a philosophy of learning strongly rooted in the traditions of the liberal arts and critical thinking.
