Offers may vary depending on the circumstances of each case.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>The pharmacy intern position on the ambulatory care team will be focused on assisting pharmacists with system population health initiatives to improve Rush patient outcomes. In this role, the pharmacy technician will reach out to patients, providers, and/or pharmacies to improve patient compliance and gaps in medication therapy. They will work closely with ambulatory care pharmacists to ensure accurate documentation is placed in patient charts. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Currently enrolled at an accredited college of pharmacy </li><li>A current Pharmacy Technician Student license for the state of IL </li><li>Ability to effectively follow directions, analyze problems and interpret analytical data. </li><li>Strong communication skills with an emphasis on customer service skills. </li><li>Accountable for his/her actions, progress and development. </li><li>Attention to detail to provide high quality care and accurate medication preparation. </li><li>Ability to operate technology accurately and efficiently by the end of the defined training period. </li><li>Consistently demonstrates leadership and initiative to peers and others in handling workload. Planning, prioritizing, and analyzing situations are frequently required. </li><li>Consistent outstanding attendance record relating to tardiness and absences. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Equipment/Machines Used in Performing Work:</p> <p>Microsoft Outlook, Epic, pharmacy automation, fax machine, copier and other office equipment as necessary..</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>May be exposed to certain hazardous materials, including but not limited to chemotherapeutic agents. Lifting up to 30 pounds, continuous standing, and frequent walking may be required.</p> <p>Position Type and Expected Hours of Work</p> <p>This is a not full time position. Shifts will vary from daytime to evening and included weekends. As noted above, once the intern becomes a P3 student, evening medication reconciliation shifts are expected at least once weekly. In addition, interns are expected to pick up shifts during holiday and summer breaks. It's possible that full time work may be available if the intern is interested.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Complete proactive outreach and communicate professionally with patients, providers, pharmacies, and/or pharmacy to obtain relevant health/medication information. </li><li>Navigate Epic electronic health record (EHR) to find required information to address specific population health initiative need </li><li>Document potential barriers and recommendations from patient and/or pharmacy interactions accurately in the EHR </li><li>Follow policy and procedures for patient outreach and escalation procedures </li><li>Complete all required training to effectively address a specific population health initiative </li><li>Train other pharmacy technicians per diems or pharmacy department personnel in population health related workflows, as needed </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer:</p> <p>The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
