<p>Posting Number S26348P Posting Date 04/16/2026 Closing Date 05/31/2026 Title Summer Instructional Component (SIC) Core Teacher Working Title Summer Instructional Component (SIC) Core Teacher Salary Range $18,360.00 Split between 4 Hires Employee Class Temporary Assignment Department TRIO Program Full-time/ Part-time Part-time Specialization</p> <p>Experience teaching high school students in the following content areas/grade levels, Mathematics (9th-12th); Science (9th-11th); and Foreign Language (9th -12th).</p> <p>Hours Per Week 24 hours per week Standard Work Week Monday - Thursday; 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM Benefits</p> <p>This position is without benefits.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>THIS IS AN IN-PERSON POSITION ON THE CAMPUS OF CHICAGO STATE UNIVERSITY.</p> <p>SIC teachers must be available to teach Monday - Thursday from 8:30am-3:00pm. Teachers are also required to provide tutorial services when not delivering instruction in the classroom.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <ul> <li>Devise thorough management objectives, plans, and syllabi in specified areas of study which are compatible with the project's goals for Upward Bound students. </li><li>Develop an engaging and real-life curriculum to help students understand the </li></ul> <p>value of supplemental instruction.</p> <ul> <li>Submit required lesson plans one week prior to the start of summer instruction. </li><li>Maintain progress reports and activity journals for each student. </li><li>Write comprehensive final evaluations for all assigned students. </li><li>Work with students in one-to-one and small group instructional settings. </li><li>Collaborate with other teachers, tutors, and administrators to ensure continuity of instruction for the assigned students. </li><li>Maintain general office hours for a minimum of two hours per day, four days per week. </li><li>Schedule additional hours of instruction for each assigned student as appropriate. </li><li>Participation and interaction with all students and staff during general program activities, outside of structured instructional sessions. </li><li>Attend end of the summer closing ceremony. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's or advanced degree in the subject area to be taught, or in a field directly related to the specific area in which he/she will teach. </li><li>Three years' experience in an educational setting, working with high school students in the specified content area. </li><li>Demonstrated competency and proficiency in the basic skills areas, e.g., speaking, reading, and writing. </li><li>Demonstrated competency and proficiency in the use of virtual platforms for teaching and learning. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Illinois Teacher Certification </li><li>Three-five years' experience teaching in content area in which he/she is hired. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated competence and proficiency in basic skill areas, e.g., speaking, reading, and writing. </li><li>Strong commitment to working with students of diverse, racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds. </li><li>Possess a solid working knowledge of the characteristics and needs of Upward Bound students. </li><li>Be of a flexible nature, capable of pivoting successfully, when necessary, from fixed or preconceived plans to meet unanticipated student needs. </li></ul> <p>Additional Applicant Information</p> <p>Applicants must submit a Cover Letter and Resume/Curriculum Vitae for this position.</p> <p>Physical Requirement/ Demands</p> <p>Involves walking across a college campus.</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>College classroom/lecture hall setting.</p>
