<p>Under limited supervision, instructs students in various cosmetology classes and performs related administrative and recordkeeping duties. Interacts with and assists students in various areas.</p> <p>This position does not offer the ability to telework due to the nature of the position.</p> <p>The following listing of essential job duties indicates the general nature and level of work required in this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.</p> <ul> <li>Stay current in chosen field and teaching methodology by meeting or exceeding all institutional professional development guidelines, participating in professional development workshops and seminars. </li><li>Support student learning outside of the classroom by holding regular office hours, providing information about additional college resources, and responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner to promote student success. Instructor offers continuous student engagement. </li><li>Provide effective instruction to students by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to evaluate student performance in courses. </li><li>Develop and design cosmetology courses. </li><li>Teach a variety of cosmetology and lab courses and maintain proper record keeping. </li><li>Teach online, face-to-face, and hybrid instruction (day/evening) </li><li>Create and carry out lesson plans to ensure industry relevant content in courses by using required NC Board of Cosmetic Art rubrics </li><li>Maintain accurate records such as attendance, grades, student learning outcomes, and other important data and submit reports according to college policies. </li><li>Assess student learning outcomes. </li><li>Participate in program advisory committees, attending departmental meetings, and serving as backup for other faculty members. </li><li>Develop course syllabi. </li><li>Travel to satellite campuses may be required. </li><li>Carry out other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Diploma in Cosmetology or related field </li><li>Three years of full-time or equivalent work experience as a cosmetologist. </li><li>Current NC Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners Cosmetologist License. </li><li>Current NC Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners Cosmetologist Teacher License </li><li>Proficient in various computer programs such as Microsoft and Excel </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree in Cosmetology or related field </li><li>Experience teaching at a community college </li><li>Proficiency in Spanish </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. </li><li>Perform all the usual and expected tasks associated with an active cosmetology professional. </li></ul>
