<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The function of this position is to serve a resource for the research of process improvements as it relates to the identification and resolution of utility conflicts with an emphasis in the design process but will also be involved as required in the construction phases of Wisconsin Department of Transportation highway projects. This requires engineering level analysis and decision-making expertise regarding utility, road design and road construction engineering. This position uses engineering knowledge to oversee the relocation, modification and adjustment of utility facilities and permitting. This position will assist in quality control and utility engineering oversight of the utility program associated with statewide projects. In doing so, this position applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the areas of design (to include highway and utility), real estate, utility conflict identification and resolution, utility compensation, schedules and budgets, and construction associated with highway improvement projects.</p> <p>This position will function as the project utility engineer leading utility activities on the states highway improvement program or provide assistance to consultants preforming the same activities as this position. This position will provide assistance to consultants related to the proper and timely utility coordination of highway projects ensuring they are completed according to the construction delivery timetables. This position also ensures that the development of projects occurs in accordance with the established facilities development process and State and Federal rules and regulations. A combination of engineering knowledge is required to effectively perform this task.</p> <p>To review the full position description, please email Jamie Pagelow at jamie.pagelow@dot.wi.gov</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The Senior level position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $83,304 - $102,398 depending upon qualifications and experience.</p> <p>The Advanced level position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $92,768 - $112,237 depending on qualifications and experience. The Advanced level also receives up to an additional $2,080/year for having your Professional Engineering license.</p> <p>WisDOT also offers excellent benefits. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.</p> <p>A $3,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have any prior permanent full-time state service in the last five years and agree to remain in the position for one year. The $3,000 will be paid on the first paycheck.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>Travel up to 25% of the time may be required.</p> <p>This state agency does not sponsor work visas. This state agency is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.</p> <p>Prior to any appointments for position(s) filled from this announcement, candidates may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check which may include FBI fingerprinting.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>A minimally qualified applicant at the SENIOR level will have the following:</p> <ul> <li>Upon hire, candidate must have graduated from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) ABET accredited college or university with a 4-year bachelor's degree (or Master's or PH.D.) in engineering OR have graduated from an Engineer Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) accredited college AND hold an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification OR possess a PE license (registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin OR a valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state). </li><li>At least 4 years of professional engineering experience after receiving degree from an ABET accredited University in design, construction, traffic, or maintenance related to transportation facilities. </li></ul> <p>Additionally, a qualified candidate at the ADVANCED level will have:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state </li></ul> <p>How To Apply</p> <p>Apply online!
