This position supports student safety, learning, and compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Special Education Aide Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist special education teachers in implementing instructional activities and accommodations aligned with students' IEPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide one-on-one or small-group academic support as directed by the supervising teacher.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students with personal care needs, including mobility, toileting, feeding, and hygiene when required.</p> </li><li> <p>Support positive behavior interventions and help manage student behavior using approved strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor student progress and report observations to the supervising teacher.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with FERPA and school policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other school environments as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Bus Aide Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist students with disabilities during transportation to and from school and school-related activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure students are properly seated and secured during transport.</p> </li><li> <p>Support safe loading and unloading of students, including those using mobility devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor student behavior on the bus and assist the driver in maintaining a safe environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate concerns or incidents to appropriate school personnel.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow all transportation safety procedures and emergency protocols.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or GED required.</p> </li><li> <p>Meets state and county requirements for service personnel employment.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass required background checks and training.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to lift, position, or assist students as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <ul> <li> <p>Hours and schedule determined by student needs and transportation assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>May include split shifts (school day and bus route times).</p> </li></ul> <p>Supervision</p> <ul> <li> <p>Works under the direction of a certified special education teacher and school administration.</p> </li><li> <p>During transportation, works under the supervision of the Transportation Department and bus driver.</p> </li></ul> <p>Disclaimer</p> <p>This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
