<p>Staff EHS Specialist</p> <p>The Staff Health & Safety Specialist will be part of our growing global EHS team. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic start-up environment. In this role, you will partner with Production, Maintenance, R&D, and Construction teams to provide daily Health & Safety operational support. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a high-growth company where safety is a value.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include:</p> <ul> <li>Developing and implementing core EHS policies and programs </li><li>Managing EHS projects and programs at the Charleston, SC campus </li><li>Conducting safety and compliance audits </li><li>Leading investigations into injuries and illnesses and developing corrective actions and preventative measures </li><li>Working with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure program compliance and promote safety policies and procedures </li><li>Writing and maintaining reports including EHS inspections, Job Safety Analysis, and incident investigation reports </li><li>Providing support to leadership in communicating safety and health concerns to all levels of the organization </li><li>Leading site EHS-related teams (Safety Committee, Ergonomics, Health & Wellness, and Emergency Response) </li><li>Creating and implementing training programs and informational materials as required to convey safety policies and procedures for new hire orientation, ongoing regulatory requirements, and specialized training </li><li>Representing EHS in engineering risk assessments on new projects using HAZID/HAZOP </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>8+ years of experience as an EHS professional in manufacturing or chemical processing industries </li><li>APS, CSP or CIH certification preferred </li><li>4-year degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering/Science, Biology, Chemistry or similar sciences is preferred </li><li>Experience writing and developing health and safety programs for large-scale manufacturing, industrial, or chemical operations </li><li>Strong background in OSHA compliance, and independent standards organizations and certification programs (ISO) </li><li>Experience developing and mentoring personnel and working in a team environment </li><li>Background supporting chemical or mechanical manufacturing environments </li><li>Ability to work with multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure program compliance </li><li>Ability to apply independent thinking and judgment to address resolution </li><li>Understands the challenges and pace of working in a startup environment </li><li>Must possess technical knowledge of fall protection systems, electrical safety, confined spaces, industrial hygiene, load handling equipment, scaffolding, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and incident investigation </li><li>Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials and safe handling practices </li><li>Must be flexible and able to adapt to constant change </li><li>Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization </li><li>Self-motivated, hands-on mindset, with a willingness to contribute at all levels </li><li>A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place! </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to successfully complete a respiratory fit test and respiratory medical evaluation. </li><li>Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment physical including a metals sensitization evaluation and biological metals burden analysis. </li><li>Ability to wear a full-face respirator when required. </li><li>Ability to work for extended periods, including up to a full shift, while wearing Tyvek suits, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), and other personal protective equipment (PPE). </li><li>Stand or move within the work area: 50% of the time. </li><li>Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 10% of the time. </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15lbs: 10% of the time. </li><li>Must be able to lift over 15lbs:10% of the time. </li><li>Must be able to sit at a work station: 70% of the time. </li><li>Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 60% of the time. </li><li>Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc. </li><li>Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Work in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors, year-round. </li><li>Ability to work in challenging working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE. </li><li>May require the ability to occasionally work weekends, nights, or on-call shifts. </li><li>Travel required ~4 times per year. </li></ul>
