<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Job Title: Accounting Manager</p> <p>Classification: Exempt/Salaried/Non-Union</p> <p>Reports To: Head of Finance and Chief Financial Officer</p> <p>Prepared Date: Dec 2025</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the accounting team, creating financial reporting, developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures and working collaboratively with various other departments to insure accurate and timely financial statements.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <ul> <li>Ensure that all Hanwha Philly Shipyard quality and safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met </li><li>Manage the monthly close, including general ledger review & accruals, and all closing journal entries </li><li>Manage all day-to-day accounting processes and members of the accounting staff </li><li>Review and ensure all entries are coded correctly in GL </li><li>Maintain integrity of Balance Sheet and Income Statement </li><li>Prepare all monthly closing schedules </li><li>Drafting and reviewing accounting memos for proper recognition and presentation </li><li>Act as a primary contact for various department managers </li><li>Provide accounting and financial reporting guidance to support business, functional and corporate needs </li><li>Analyze, classify, and review complex accounting transactions and interrelationships </li><li>Prepare interpretation of accounting results and advise management. Identify complex accounting problems, research solutions, and corrects problem </li><li>Examine financial statements and documents for conformance with accounting requirements and principles </li><li>Interface with external auditors and is responsible for facilitating completion of the audit in connection with the Company's financial reporting requirements </li><li>Reconcile fixed assets and various bank statements </li><li>Maintain records for operating and capital leases </li><li>Perform other related duties as required and assigned </li></ul> <p>COMPETENCIES</p> <ul> <li>Technical accounting strengths </li><li>Flexibility to work in a lean management environment </li><li>Strong communication, accounting and project management skills </li><li>Strong quantitative, analytical and reporting skills including the ability to translate financial information to business consequences and solutions </li><li>Leadership level communication and time management skills </li><li>Strong demonstrated problem-solving skills with high attention to detail </li><li>Hands-on, can-do attitude and highly responsible, self-motivated, and self-sufficient </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY</p> <p>Manages the Accounting Team.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes, smoke, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.</p> <ul> <li>Hanwha Philly Shipyard is a TOBACCO FREE facility. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A range of motion sufficient to perform general lifting, carrying, bending, extended standing, etc. is required.</p> <p>POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK</p> <p>This is an onsite, full-time position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.</p> <p>PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting required </li><li>6+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably experience with multi-year construction projects </li><li>Public accounting experience preferred </li><li>DoD / Government Contracting experience preferred </li><li>Solid knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, Technical Accounting, and ability to research given topics </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office </li><li>Experience with SAP preferred </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES</p> <p>Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
