<p>Posting Open Date: Dec 1, 2025</p> <p>Anticipated Posting Close Date*: Dec 19, 2025</p> <ul> <li>Job posting may close early due to the volume of applicants. </li></ul> <p>Engineering Director, Platform Trust & Growth</p> <p>We're looking for a dynamic and strategic leader to head our Trust & Growth Platform team, which unites customer identity and access management (CIAM) with Growth engineering. This role is central to building the foundation of customer identity while unlocking scalable revenue opportunities. As Director, you'll lead a high-impact engineering organization - setting the vision for customer identity and access management while partnering across product and go-to-market teams to accelerate growth. While you won't be hands-on in the code base, this role will require you to leverage a strong technical background in building tier-0 distributed systems. If you thrive at the intersection of platform engineering, customer experience, and business outcomes, this is your opportunity to shape the future of how our customers engage and grow with us.</p> <p>What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Define and drive the long-term strategy for the Trust & Growth Platform, spanning identity, access, monetization of products and services, and customer growth capabilities </li><li>Lead the strategy and execution of next-generation Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) frameworks, ensuring customers can securely and flexibly manage access across products, APIs, and services </li><li>Drive development of scalable customer identity and access management (CIAM) systems that power seamless sign-up, authentication, authorization, and lifecycle management experiences </li><li>Oversee platform evolution to support fine-grained permissions models, role hierarchies, and delegated administration, balancing usability with security best practices </li><li>Advance and broaden user protection on our platform from threats like fraud and abuse </li><li>Partner with product, finance, and go-to-market leaders to align monetization systems with customer identity and access roadmaps </li><li>Be deeply involved in understanding and operationalizing revenue and pricing models for existing and new product and market launches </li><li>Collaborate with Compliance and Security organizations to ensure Data at Fastly is protected and verifiable </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For:</p> <ul> <li>5+ years leading tier-0 distributed systems engineering teams & managing engineers at all career levels. </li><li>10+ years of domain relevant software engineering experience - i.e. backend & distributed systems focus with expertise in modern programming languages and tooling (the team works mostly in Golang). </li><li>Proven track record of building and scaling distributed backend systems on platforms for identity, access management, payments, or monetization domains </li><li>Strong product and business orientation, with the ability to connect technical investments to revenue and growth outcomes </li><li>Experience fostering inclusive, collaborative, and high-accountability engineering cultures </li><li>Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with executive presence to influence at the C-suite level </li></ul> <p>We'll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:</p> <ul> <li>Leading large-scale Customer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) initiatives </li><li>Designing and operating billing, payments, or revenue growth platforms at global scale </li><li>Driving convergence of trust/security platforms with monetization systems </li><li>Building platform capabilities that enable cross-sell and upsell motions in SaaS businesses </li><li>Scaling engineering organizations through rapid growth and transformation phases </li><li>Prior experience evolving an authentication and authorization platform including Keycloak and Role-based access control </li></ul> <p>Work Location:</p> <p>The preferred office locations for this position are:</p> <ul> <li>San Francisco, CA </li><li>Denver, CO </li><li>New York, NY </li></ul> <p>Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.</p> <p>There is a strong preference for Hybrid near a local office. However, we may be willing to consider exceptionally qualified remote candidates within the US.</p> <p>This position will require travel as requested by your manager.</p> <p>Work Hours:</p> <p>This position will require you to be available during core business hours and occasional nights and weekends as the on-call escalation point.</p> <p>SF / LA Fair Chance Ordinance Statement</p> <p>Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>The estimated salary range for this position is $211,370 to $253,644</p> <p>Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.</p> <p>This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus programs.</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>We care about you.
