<p>What Health System Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health</p> <p>Health System Pharmacy is responsible for providing customized pharmacy program solutions that reduce costs and improve patient care quality for hospitals, health systems and other integrated healthcare providers may also consult with and advise healthcare team on prescribed medications, supplies and related processes.</p> <p>Pharmacy Intern in a 250 plus bed teaching hospital in Boston, MA servicing a variety of patient populations. This intern will work independently as well as part of a managed team to ensure accurate and timely delivery of medications to patient care units. This technician will support daily operational responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, medication order review and entry, medication preparation and packaging, as well as inventory management processes.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>With over 45 years of experience in helping hundreds of hospital and outpatient pharmacies, we provide access to best practice strategies and tactics to control costs, improve workflow and enhance safety. Supportive personnel work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a licensed pharmacist. Intern will assist the pharmacist in providing quality pharmaceutical care to all patients by performing certain technical duties in the pharmacy department.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Accurately selects and prepares medication automatic dispensing cabinet and for patient specific use under pharmacist review </li><li>Learns the medication orders review processes and associated software. </li><li>Delivers medication to patient care units in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy regulations </li><li>Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory levels, including stock rotation, checking for expired medications, and providing feedback when stock levels are low. </li><li>Responds urgently to floor stock needs, delivering medications to the automated dispensing cabinet on patient care units in an accurate and timely manner, including checking for errors such as wrong strengths and expiration dates </li><li>Works with other hospital staff to ensure medication units are clean and orderly in accordance with hospital policy and laws </li><li>Ability to work independently as well as with a team </li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Pharmacy </li><li>Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy and have a Pharmacy Intern or Pharmacy Technician License as provided by the State required. </li><li>High school diploma or GED preferred </li><li>Flexibility to work various shifts </li><li>Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals </li><li>Strong customer service skills </li><li>May require vendor credentialing </li></ul> <p>What is expected of you and others at this level</p> <ul> <li>Applies working knowledge in the application of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to perform varied tasks </li><li>Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity </li><li>Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes actions to resolve </li><li>Applies judgment within defined parameters </li><li>Receives general guidance may receive more detailed instruction on new projects </li><li>Work reviewed for sound reasoning and accuracy </li></ul> <p>Anticipated hourly range: $20.10 per hour - $28.60 per hour.</p> <p>Bonus eligible: No</p> <p>Benefits: 401k Contributions, Paid Time Off, Access to wages before pay day with myFlexPay</p> <p>Application window anticipated to close: 7/10/2025 *if interested in opportunity, please submit application as soon as possible</p> <p>The hourly range listed is an estimate.
