<p>Job Description</p> <p>Job Title: Chiller Design Engineer</p> <p>Location: High Ridge, MO</p> <p>Zip Code: 63049</p> <p>Pay Rate: $52hr-$55hr</p> <p>Shift: 1st Shift</p> <p>Contract-to-hire</p> <p>Chiller Design Engineer:</p> <p>With a focus on HVAC, designs, develops, and implements chilled water systems for Commercial/Industrial applications or Navy fleet, requiring expertise in refrigeration, hydronics, and mechanical engineering. Select components like compressors and heat exchangers, assist in creating and reviewing electrical and piping schematics, analyze system efficiency, and ensure designs meet customer requirements and industry standards. The role requires several years of experience in HVAC and commercial/marine chilled water systems.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>System Design & Component Selection: </li></ul> <p>Select appropriate mechanical components, such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion valves, and piping, to create a customized and efficient system.</p> <ul> <li>Technical Documentation: </li></ul> <p>Create and maintain engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and product specifications for chiller systems. Ability to interpret customer requirements and configure product by understanding customer's specifications.</p> <ul> <li>System Analysis & Optimization: </li></ul> <p>Analyze system performance to maximize efficiency, ensuring optimal energy consumption and proper component de-rating for applications like glycol or PGW usage.</p> <ul> <li>Application Support: </li></ul> <p>Provide technical support to customers and factory R&D teams, interact with customers, and ensure products meet their unique needs.</p> <ul> <li>Manufacturing Support: </li></ul> <p>Ensure products are built according to design and customer requirements, working with manufacturing processes. Experience with commissioning, startup, operation and troubleshooting is required.</p> <p>Required Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Education: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is typically required. A Master's degree is a plus. </li><li>Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of refrigeration theory and cycles, Chiller mechanics and complex system controls, hydronics, and pipefitting is crucial. Knowledge of MIL/Navy Standards is beneficial. </li><li>Software & Tools: Understanding of engineering design software preferred (CREO/Windchill preferred), refrigeration manufacturer's software, and tools for creating electrical and mechanical documentation is preferred. </li><li>Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in the US commercial or Marine chilled water industry with focus on centrifugal chillers is desired. </li><li>Applications: Designs systems for various applications, including large commercial buildings, industrial processes, hypermarkets, and data centers that require significant cooling capacity. </li><li>Industry Experience Preferred: HVAC manufacturers (like LG Electronics or Johnson Controls or Trane or Carrier or Daikin), engineering firms (like Drake Chillers or NY Engineers), or within the facilities management departments of large organizations. </li><li>Types of Chillers: Focuses on different chiller types, such as modular and large centrifugal chillers, depending on the application and scale of the cooling project. Experience with magnetic or ceramic bearing oil-free compressors in 300T and above is highly desired. Experience with new bearing technologies is beneficial. </li></ul>
