<p>Overview</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Director of Admissions performs managerial functions for ER/Inpatient/Outpatient/PBX departments</p> <p>by effective management of human and financial resources to achieve quality outcomes. The Director</p> <p>maintains continuity of around the clock registration and operations in conjunction with the hospital</p> <p>objectives, policies, and procedures. The Director is subject varied hours and call-back as required by the</p> <p>Hospital</p> <p>Job Responsibilities I. Assessment</p> <ul> <li>Assesses competency of staff members, identifies areas of improvement and assists in the </li></ul> <p>development of educational opportunities.</p> <ul> <li>Routinely inspects the division to ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and personnel. </li><li>Assesses the need for supplies and orders appropriately according to area needs. </li><li>Assesses registration activities to provide indicators for continuous quality improvement. II. Planning </li><li>Plans and prepares appropriate time schedules for staff in order to complete necessary </li></ul> <p>assignments in a timely and accurate manner.</p> <ul> <li>Plans for the effective use of staff available. </li><li>Develops and coordinates orientation plans for staff within units. </li><li>Plans and assists in the orientation of new personnel to the unit.III. Implementation </li><li>Facilitates positive relationships among staff supervised within the department and with other </li></ul> <p>departments.</p> <ul> <li>Supervises work performance on a daily basis. </li><li>Completes employee evaluations objectively and in a timely manner. </li><li>Provides for employee counseling or in-service to insure corrective actions in instances deviations </li></ul> <p>from standards and policies/procedures by employees supervised.</p> <ul> <li>Instructs personnel regarding hospital and division policies and procedures. </li><li>Conducts monthly unit meetings using Performance Improvement monitors and Report Cards or </li></ul> <p>other pertinent sources for communication to all staff regarding issues and unit operational issues.</p> <ul> <li>With CFO and Human Resources makes decisions concerning hiring, transfer, or discharge of employees with assistance from CFO and Human Resources. Provides appropriate documentation in a timely manner. </li><li>Reviews financial/registration reports within units to identify problems requiring intervention. </li><li>Admits patients and covers shifts as necessary. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by CFO.IV. Evaluation </li><li>Supervises and evaluates work performance, adherence to hospital policies and staff </li></ul> <p>development of staff.</p> <ul> <li>Counsels personnel and takes appropriate action regarding problems of a personal and </li></ul> <p>professional nature which have an effect upon effective division operations.</p> <ul> <li>Reviews and evaluates department policies and procedures and initiates development and </li></ul> <p>revisions processes. V. Self Development</p> <ul> <li>Participates in activities designed to assist the hospital and departments of responsibility in </li></ul> <p>improving services.</p> <ul> <li>Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development of management skills. </li><li>Has knowledge of computer system failure and emergency plans, i.e., fire, disaster, bomb threats, </li></ul> <p>etc.</p> <p>Specifications</p> <p>Requirements, Preferences and Experience</p> <ol> <li> <p>Requires job specific experience, including supervisory experience.</p> </li><li> <p>High School Diploma required.</p> </li><li> <p>Associate's Degree in Business Administration or related field required.</p> </li><li> <p>Prefer Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field.</p> </li><li> <p>Must obtain NAHAAM Certification within 12 months of hire date.</p> </li></ol>
