<p>This position serves as a supervisor within Facilities Management Service with responsibility for the Engineering and Construction Project Management section at a multi-faceted and affiliated VA Medical Center, including outlying Community Based Outpatient Clinics.</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>This position serves as the Supervisory Projects Engineer of Planning and Projects Section within Facilities Management Service. This position is responsible for management of a professional engineering program involving Capital Planning, Engineering Design, Construction Project Management. Lease Development, and Lease Management and Operations at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. This position is also responsible for management and work within programs involving Maintenance and Repair, Utility Plant Operations, Energy Management and Conservation Program, Safety, Fire Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Preparedness, and Green Environmental Management. VA Connecticut Healthcare System includes the West Haven and Newington medical center campuses including outlying Outpatient Clinics.</p> <p>Major Duties:</p> <p>The Supervisory Projects Engineer ensures safe, reliable, and a precisely controlled operating environment for direct patient care through management of a design and construction program to build and renovate hospital and support environments. Supervisory Project Engineers serve as experts in the design of the medical care environment, including all hospital building features, automated building management and environmental control systems, and critical utility systems, as well as the oversight of related construction including construction in and adjacent to operational healthcare environments. Supervisory Projects Engineers collaborate directly with the Chief of Engineering Service, executive leadership, medical staff, nursing staff, and other clinical personnel regarding the design of the environment for medical care. They manage construction projects.</p> <p>The Supervisory Projects Engineer is a key engineering advisor reporting directly to the Chief of Engineering Service. The Supervisory Projects Engineer is a responsible leader and a member of the Engineering management team and is relied on for authoritative advice on all aspects of design and construction matters.</p> <p>This position provides matrix management support and technical expert consultation to the Chief of Engineering Service for all issues relative to the areas listed above. The Supervisory Projects Engineer makes recommendations to the Chief of Engineering for final approval, and has responsibility and accountability for all aspects of the Medical Center Design and Construction program and oversight. The Supervisory Projects Engineer collaborates with operations and program managers to ensure integrated goals and priorities for all projects are met. The Supervisory Projects Engineer also works closely with peers in other service lines to meet their project needs as internal customers and the needs of external customers as well.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Full-time Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Telework: Not Authorized</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: F04775</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p>
