Work may include and is not limited to Flooring, Ceiling, and Walls Systems, Furniture repair, and Painting & refinishing. Often this position will assist other facility trades in completing various projects.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>Safety</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates an understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures, and internal/external disaster procedures, as outlined in the fire safety policy, knows personal role in the event of a fire while on duty. </li><li>Provides a safe environment; demonstrates alertness to areas needing attention in avoiding unsafe conditions such as but not limited to: wet flooring, blocked egress areas etc. </li><li>Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner on a daily basis. </li><li>Always wears all personal protective equipment when required. </li><li>Carries out duties in a safe professional manner, with focus on customer service as a high priority. Exceeds: No substantiated complaints from patients, physicians, staff & visitors. </li><li>Ability to use the Life Safety Drawings to identify smoke and fire barrier construction throughout the facility. </li><li>Anticipates potential and environmental safety hazards and takes appropriate actions. </li><li>Uses proper lifting techniques when appropriate. </li><li>Assures proper machine guards are in place. </li><li>Understands and able to use the departments lock out tag out system for equipment under repair. </li></ul> <p>Emergency Response</p> <ul> <li>Availability for on call duty when / as required. </li><li>Works additional hours if required, including occasional shift changes due to work assignments. Exceeds: on occasion voluntarily offers to change primary work schedule to accommodate work assigned. </li><li>Participates in availability for unscheduled Emergencies when they occur. </li><li>Participates in Facilities On - Call Weekly Program (candidates hired after 2020) </li></ul> <p>Systems & Equipment Maintenance</p> <ul> <li>Designs, builds, and repairs cabinetry, furniture and other items such as shelves and counters. Exceeds: Installs plastic laminate when constructing shelving and cabinetry in house. </li><li>Assists with the design and building of renovation projects. </li><li>Estimates and recommends the quality, cost effectiveness and best use of materials ordered. </li><li>Installs and repairs walls and doors. Exceeds: Installs vinyl wallcoverings such as acrovyn and corner guard products. </li><li>Installs and repairs floors including stair treads and base cove. </li><li>Provides assistance to back up the locksmith by installing, repairing, and replacing locks and door hardware. Exceeds: Fabricates, issues and records keys when needed. </li><li>Builds and repairs new and damaged walls. </li><li>Hangs Drywall and is able to work with metal studs. Exceeds: Able to tape and finish drywall ready for painting. </li><li>Repairs windows and frames, replaces screens, hang pictures and mirrors, and other safety equipment as necessary. </li><li>Installs and repair Acoustical and Solid surface ceiling systems. </li><li>Performs all preventive maintenance and repairs on carpenter ship equipment. </li><li>Performs painting and staining when applicable. </li></ul> <p>Facilities Support</p> <ul> <li>Maintains inventory of stock needed for frequent repairs in facilities. </li><li>Assists other members of department with performing required duties. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li><li>Helps to move furniture and other designated pieces of equipment. </li></ul> <p>Information Management</p> <ul> <li>Accurately uses the hospital information system to enter and retrieve maintenance related data. </li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of the work order system. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Education - High School Diploma / GED</p> <p>Experience - The candidate should have a minimum of three years' experience as a carpenter's helper or Journeyman level and possess a good working knowledge of the trade terminology and tools.
