<p>Location: Hybrid within footprint, open to FT remote if outside of footprint.</p> <p>Overview:</p> <p>We are a small (but mighty!) product design team focused on improving the end-to-end account opening experience for M&T Bank Customers; both online, in branch and in the call center. You will lead design for our account opening experience, helping transform how individuals and businesses start their relationship with M&T Bank. You'll work closely with digital, branch, and product to simplify applications, optimize forms, and remove friction from both self-serve and banker-assisted experiences.</p> <p>While our team is small, we are part of a larger design organization that spans across M&T and Wilmington Trust, offering strong support, collaboration, and alignment.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead design for the digital and in-branch account opening experience, ensuring forms, flows, and interactions are intuitive, compliant, and optimized for conversion.</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with business and product to understand goals, requirements, and customer needs for sales and onboarding across channels.</p> </li><li> <p>Use research and data to identify pain points in the application process and propose improvements that reduce abandonment, enhance clarity and increase sales.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize user-centered design methods across the product lifecycle, including discovery, wireframes, prototyping, and testing.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with developers to ensure delivery of accessible, responsive, usable solutions across desktop and mobile devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate and lead cross-functional design thinking workshops to align on goals, brainstorm solutions, and prioritize improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>Mentor Product Designers on the team and contribute to design system patterns relevant to forms, inputs, and guided workflows.</p> </li><li> <p>Contribute to storytelling, vision-setting, and relationship-building with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Risk, and Compliance.</p> </li></ul> <p>Scope of Responsibilities:</p> <p>You'll serve as the Lead Product Designer for Account Opening for M&T Bank within the Sales & Onboarding and Banker Experience Design Team. You'll design cohesive, human-centered application and onboarding journeys, collaborating closely with user research, and our design system team to ensure consistency and excellence.</p> <p>Education and Experience Required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or similar, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years education and/or relevant product design work.</p> </li><li> <p>Hands-on experience designing complex workflows, forms, or digital applications-especially in financial services or regulated industries.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong proficiency with Figma and Adobe design tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work across multi-step user journeys (e.g. account opening, loan applications, digital onboarding, sales funnels), especially where cross-channel continuity is important.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience defining, documenting, and iterating on form patterns, instructional copy, and information architecture.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled at partnering and building relationships with engineers and product to ensure high-quality implementation of designs.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience conducting and incorporating usability testing and customer feedback into iterative improvements.</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding and experience implementing accessibility standards, mobile and desktop responsive design, and leveraging design systems for UX consistency.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience Preferred:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Familiarity with design systems and the ability to contribute patterns back to shared libraries.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working in financial services or with complex, compliance-driven workflows.</p> </li><li> <p>Exposure to digital sales and banker-assisted digital experiences.</p> </li></ul> <p>M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $107,656.56 - $179,427.60 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.</p> <p>Location</p> <p>Baltimore, Maryland, United States of America</p>
